Olivia pulled Brandon through the door, her mum was working away for the week, her job in the city as a direct photographer of a magazine articles took up most of her time, she wasn't usually home.
"Oh Brandon, I was walking through the woods and..." she stopped, deciding whether to tell him or not, of course she should tell him, I mean he's her boyfriend right? But he'd freak out...
"And...?" He replied gently, locking the door with a click of the lock, sitting on the sofa beside her.
"Uh...A wild dog jumped out of no where, it frightened me and I ran off" she desperately hoped he would believe this, she would of crossed her fingers if it wasn't so obvious to him
"Oh wow that's odd babe, are you alright?" He put the kettle on pulling out two mugs from the cupboard. Coffee for us both.
She nodded as he brought the two mugs to the sofa, he handed her it gently and she kept it close for comfort after what she saw, she couldn't bring herself to tell him, the police maybe? But even they couldn't find her dad's killer.
That's when she started to think about her dad, she couldn't stop what happened, the tears started to roll down her cheeks and she sniffed a little, Brandon took her mug and placed it on the small table, holding her and resting his head on hers
"it will be okay Olive, is it about your dad?" He could read her like a book, she sighed nodding and cried in his arms
"I'm here for you Olive, I will never leave your side" those words gave her the warmest feeling she could ever get, she loved him as he loved her, eternally and forever.
After Brandon left she sat down to get her homework done and made herself some tea before heading to bed, she couldn't help looking over her shoulder now and again, the fear getting to her.
She flicked off the lights and sat in the dark, the curtains of her bedroom open the slightest bit, where the only peek of some light showing through would be the moons white illuminated glow shining down against the trees shadow, it was eerie but beautiful to watch. Then it happened.
The shadow silhouette that had haunted her in so much of her childhood. He was there behind the glass, knife gleaming at the ready. Olivia froze. This was it.
