Marco laid with his head on his pillow at the top of his bed. Tom laid with his head at the foot of the bed. Both boys stared at the ceiling.

Marco's hands rested on his chest, one fidgeting with his zipper. Tom left his hands under his head. His eyes were shut lightly. After Marco had moved to the bed they just sat there staring at the ceiling for a while. Tom finally spoke up. He often was the one who had to start the conversation. Marco would just get quiet sometimes.

"So, we talked about my love life. How is your love life going? You find anyone new since you and Jackie broke up?" Tom asked, opening his eyes. Marco stopped fidgeting with his zipper.

"No, no one new. I think Jackie ruined my expectation of girls. No ones ever going to seem as cool to me again." Marco explained. "I don't know if I'll find anyone again." He frowned. He tried not to let himself get into a funk, but he seemed to slip right into it when Tom asked him about Jackie.

"Don't say that man. You're going to find someone new I promise." Tom smiled. "How could you not, you're the coolest." He paused for a moment, he could tell Marco was upset now. He wanted to find a way to cheer him up, but he didn't really know what to do. "I understand the ruined expectations though. I felt that way the first time me and Star broke up, you saw the way I acted after all of that. But I got her back now, so I know everything will end up okay for you as well."

Marco's eyes stung a little. He loved being Tom's friend, really loved it, but when he listened to him talk about Star it just made him sadder than he was before. It reminded him that he shouldn't have hesitated, that he should've just liked her when she told him she liked him. But he missed his chance and now he was laying in a bed with her new boyfriend, the same guy who was supposed to be Marco's best friend. He felt the bed shift and glanced over at Tom, who was now looking at Marco as well. He continued fidgeting with the zipper until it had broken, falling off the sweatshirt.

"Let's change the subject." Tom suggested, Marco nodded. "What would you rather talk about?" He asked.

"Can we talk about how much my ear hurts?" Marco asked, laughing slightly. Tom nodded.

"I'm sure it doesn't hurt that bad, let me see it." He smiled, sitting up and leaning over to Marco. Marco sat up as well, turning his head to show the piercing. "Oh wow, I've pierced my own ear three times and it has never looked like that." He grimaced. "But on the bright side, it's still bleeding so I don't think the pain is strange at all. You're probably just having a weird reaction."

"Hmn, is bleeding and pain normally a weird reaction to a needle going through your skin?" Marco asked sarcastically.

"You didn't have to let me pierce it if you really didn't want me to." Tom reminded him, leaning back in the bed. Marco collapsed back as well.

"I wanted to look cool." He sighed. "But I guess I just look dumb if my ears just going to keep bleeding like this."

"It's going to stop bleeding eventually. You'll be fine." Tom smiled. "You're just being dramatic."

Marco gasped dramatically. "When have I ever been dramatic in my life?" He asked. Tom rolled his eyes and moved to lay his head next to Marco's.

"You're always dramatic." He answered. Marco shook his head but stayed silent. There were a lot of silent moments shared between him and Tom, but he never really minded much. He just enjoyed being around him. "As much as I'd love to stay up all night being annoyed by you, I think three am is my cut off for hanging out with you." Tom laughed as he glanced at the alarm clock next to him.

"It's not three am." Marco breathed before glancing over at the clock himself, shocking himself as he read the time himself. "Oh wow." Tom laughed slightly.

"So you agree, we should sleep." Tom stated, turning onto his side to look at Marco. Marco nodded and yawned.

"I was getting tired anyway."

The two boys fell asleep as fast as they decided to try to. Marco had pulled up his hood, hoping that if he just ignored the new piercing it might stop bleeding. He thought that maybe after a full night of sleep maybe it would just heal itself. Unfortunately for him he didn't get the full night of sleep he expected.

"Why are you guys still asleep?" Star asked loudly, waking the two boys up. "Please tell me you did not stay up super late being idiots." She frowned.

"We did not stay up super late being idiots." Both boys mumbled in unison. But just as they said it Marco sat up slightly and his hood fell down, revealing the dried blood covered piercing. Star gasped and pointed dramatically at the ear.

"Y-You got a piercing!!" Star yelled. The shrill of her voice sent a shock through Toms body causing him to shoot up in the bed and finally fully wake up. He put his head in his hand, sighing. Marco's eyes widened and he shook his head quickly.

"wh-what?? No. No I don't have a piercing. You're insane." Marco denied, pulling the hood back over his ears. Star shook her head and threw herself on top of the boy, pulling on the hood. Tom laughed as he watched the two.

"Okay, okay Star calm down." Marco laughed trying to push the girl off of him. He held her away from the hood, just far enough so she couldn't reach it and reveal the earring. Tom glanced at the boy, he could tell that he was too distracted by Stars attempts to notice him. He reached up one hand and pulled off the hood. Marco's eyes widened, his head turned slowly to the demon sitting next to him, a shit eating grin across his face.

"Oh my god!!!" Star yelled, grabbing Marco's head tightly and pulling his ear close to her face to inspect it. Marco held eye contact with Tom, holding a death glare on him. Tom didn't drop his big grin. "Did you do this last night?? Did you do this yourself?? Did Tom do this to you?!" She yelled, beginning to shake his head.

"I'm going to murder you." Marco muttered under his breath. Somehow Tom's grin got bigger.

"I'd like to see you try."

Star threw herself back off of Marco, watching him readjust the hood back onto his head. "What are you going to tell people?? What about my parents?" She asked, Marco looked at her confused.

"It's just an ear." He assured. "And besides I'm not going to take this hood off ever again so it doesn't matter. No one else is going to see it."
