Janna stood next to Tom, looking at the boy laying in his bed staring blankly at the wall in front of him. "He won't get out of bed. He wont eat, drink, or speak. I-I don't know what to do Janna I....I miss him." Tom frowned, looking at his boyfriend. Marco didn't react to his words at all, he just stayed blank.
"I'm glad you called me. Being outed is like, the worst thing to ever happen to a person and I personally think it should be illegal. He's got one of the worst cases I've ever seen. Look at the way he just stares blankly at the wall, completely numb to the outside world. Yeah I don't know any good ways to really deal with this one." She rambled, walking over to the bed and poking Marco's nose. "Have you been talking to him?" She asked.
"He's not much for conversation." Tom sighed, sitting next to Marco on the bed and playing with his hair. Marco's mouth twitched and he shut his eyes.
"Wait wait wait." Janna raised an eyebrow. "Keep playing with his hair. I think it's comforting to him, that was close to him actually moving."
"Would've been the first time in a week. If he doesn't get up soon I'm going to have to spend our three month anniversary all alone." Tom frowned and leaned down, kissing Marco's cheek and whispering in his ear. "I love you."
Marco's eyes shot open and he sat up.
"Woah, what did you say to him?" Janna asked, jumping back.
"Th-th-that's the first time you said that." Marco stuttered out. "You-you've never said that to me before!" He yelped.
"Well jeez Marco if I knew all you needed to get up was to know I love you I would've told you sooner." Tom laughed, his eyes watered slightly, but he pushed it away. "You do know I love you right?" He asked.
"I do." Marco smiled softly. "I-I love you too."
The final step, The Moment when you know you know it but you can't keep it in any longer. Almost three months into their relationship to the day. If you go on google and ask how soon you should tell someone you love them that's the answer they give, three months. That's how long it took for Marco Diaz to break himself, and Tom to put him back together again.
Quickly after the I love you's were shared Tom was able to get Marco up and out of his bed, out of his room. He got him to take a shower, which was a big plus for Tom because he wouldn't tell him, but teenage boys that don't shower for a week smell awful. And he got Marco to start smiling again. That was the biggest accomplishment in Tom's book. All he wanted over that past week was to see his beautiful boy smile again.
"There's my beautiful boy." Tom grinned as he walked into Marco's room. "You think you can handle leaving the castle today? I know the farthest we've gotten you so far is the bathroom but I think it might be good for you to just, get outside for a bit. Plus I'm sure nachos misses you." Marco rolled his eyes.
"Stop calling me that." He smiled, he said to stop but the smile on his face when he heard the nickname said differently. "And, I don't know. Don't get me wrong I would love to leave these walls and go for a ride but, I don't know if I can do it." He sighed.
"Well, no one out there knows about us. We can go somewhere far away where no one knows us and do a practice run for telling people we're together?" Tom offered. "It'll be tons of fun. We just go and spend a couple days in another dimension where no one knows us and pretend to be two out of the closet boys in love."
"Awe, we'll only have to live half a lie." Marco laughed.
"What d'ya say?" Tom asked, holding out his hand. After a moment of hesitation Marco nodded and took his hand.
Tom knew he was going to say yes, that's why he had spent the whole night before researching which dimension they should travel to. Finally he landed on a dimension that was well known for its tourist attraction. It was beautiful, and nice, and perfect and it seemed like just the right place to take Marco for a weekend. When his parents asked why he was going away for a weekend with Marco he didn't really know what to say. For a moment he was going to say because he wanted a romantic weekend with his boyfriend, but then he realized what he was about to say and changed his mind. Eventually he landed on 'he's going through a hard time and as his best bud I figured it's my job to cheer him up' They reluctantly accepted that answer.
"Wow, Tom it's beautiful here." Marco grinned as he looked around.
"Only the best for my beautiful boy." Tom grinned back. Just as he spoke a loud scream interrupted the conversation and a bright pink dragon cycle crashed in front of them, throwing the girl driving off the bike and landing her right at their feet.
"Shit." She muttered taking off the yellow helmet she was wearing before noticing the two boys in front of her. She scrambled to her feet and laughed. She was covered in mud, wearing a yellow sundress and her hair was short curly and pink. She looked as human as Marco, causing him to wonder what actually lived in this dimension. "Ack! Sorry about that I'm kind of the clumsiest person alive." She giggled before throwing out her hand. "I'm Maisy Waters! Nice to meet you, and you are?"
"Um, Tom. This is Marco." Tom awkwardly smiled back and shook her mud covered hand. She looked at the mud that had now been spread over to Tom and laughed awkwardly back at him, wiping her hand on her dress.
"Sorry again. You guys visiting or moving in?" She asked.
"Visiting." Tom answered, beginning to wonder why this complete stranger was asking so many questions.
"Makes sense, it's a lot more fun to just visit here than move in. If you move in you have to get accustomed to all the smiling and happiness around here all the time and it's just weird. I should know I just moved here five years ago. Anyway, jeez Maisy you're ramblin', you guys seem like a cool couple, if you wanna hang out anytime you can find me and Cinnamon in the big lavender house down the block. Kinda hard to miss, all the other houses are like, yellow, blue, and pink." She grinned.
"O..kay." Tom nodded.
"The check in office for visitors is in that big green building over there. Enjoy the island!" She smiled before putting the helmet back on and running over to her dragon cycle, climbing back on it and whipping around the corner.
"What exactly is this place?" Marco asked, looking around. The sky was a permanent orange. The buildings were all pastel. Dragon cycles seemed to be around every corner, like not a single person there didn't own one. And the ground was all grass, there was no pavement, just dirt paths where people had worn down the grass with their steps and their cycles.
"I'm not entirely sure. I did a lot of research and people seem to really like it here but um, it didn't say much about what exactly happens here. Just the big words 'Sunshine Island, where everyone is happy.' I figured that was good enough." Tom explained.
"Well, if everyone's always happy we better get to that happiness stuff. Come on lets go check in."
