Maisy led the two boys back to the check in office and stepped back to let Marco go inside. Marco walked up to the front desk calmly, trying to think out what he would say to buy them time. He could make a complaint but he really didn't know what to complain about, as of that moment there wasn't anything bad happening on the island. Honestly there was nothing less than perfect. Other than his new friends all disappearing. But he got up to the desk and he went on a limb and tried to just improvise something as best as he could.
"Hi um, me and my boyfriend are here on a little vacation and we just spent the day on the beach and it was lovely and I was hoping that there was some sort of surprise I could give him to thank him for the wonderful day. Do you guys have any surprise packages or anything?" Marco asked. The same man behind the desk grinned and began typing on the computer, the sound of the typing covered up the noise of the door opening and Marco's two friends sneaking into the building.
"Yes, yes. We have all these packages, some are specialty anniversary or engagement ones-" Just as Wilbur was about to look up from his keyboard and see Tom and Maisy Marco launched himself over the desk and pointed at the screen.
"Wh-what about that one? What's that one for?" He asked, pointing at a random package on the screen. Wilbur's eyes went to his finger as Maisy and Tom finally got to the door. Maisy gave a thumbs up as she slipped inside.
"Please don't touch the screen sir, no one is allowed to touch the computers besides me." Wilbur frowned, his high squeaky voice filled with sorrow. He shook the disdain off his face and clicked on the package Marco had pointed at.
Tom slipped in the back room behind Maisy. Maisy made her way over to the wall of screens that was in the back of the room, a desk in front of it was covered in papers and files. Tom glanced at the screens, they seemed to all be from cameras around the house Tom and Marco we're staying in. Excluding of course the bathroom, though that didn't make Tom feel any more secure.
"That is...so creepy." Tom mumbled, looking at the screens. "He watches everything we do?" He asked, turning to Maisy who was already making her way through the folders.
"Yeah, I told you they watch everything you guys do so they can make sure you're having the best day ever. I don't know what is so important about your happiness, maybe they're selling the footage to people who really enjoy seeing two teenage boys getting it on." Maisy sighed, finally finding the file she needed.
"Thank you, that really makes me feel even safer. Wouldn't someone notice that I'm not on any cameras right now?" Tom asked, glancing at the bedroom screen. He couldn't wait to get off this island and back home. He loved being on vacation with Marco but he would love it more if he felt safe there.
"I dunno, no one seems to be here watching the camera right now. But if someone notices then we better get out of here soon. I got the file come on lets go." Maisy grabbed Tom's hand and pulled him away from the screens. Walking out of the room and making it past the distracted Wilbur and out the front door.
"I don't mean to be rude sir, but how many of these packages are you planning on looking at?" Wilbur asked, his voice shaking slightly. Marco felt bad for the poor guy to have to go through Marco annoying him, but he also didn't feel bad at all because well, he was kidnapping and brainwashing people. No amount of annoying him could even what Wilbur was doing out.
"Actually, I think I changed my mind. I'm not going to surprise him until we get home. It will be more fun there anyway." Marco smiled. He began to turn around but Wilbur stopped him.
"Wait sir! Are you sure you won't want to surprise him anymore? I think one of our packages would definitely be nice." Wilbur's voice sounded panicky. Marco heard the door open behind him.
"Sorry, I'm sure." He turned back towards the door and that was the last thing he saw before a bag was put tightly around his head and he was knocked out.
Tom and Maisy stood a few feet from the door. Tom's back was towards it as he watched Maisy carefully read through the file. Tom glanced back at the door. "Shouldn't he have come out right after us?" Tom asked. Maisy shrugged.
"I'm sure he'll come out so..on. Oh, that's not promising." She frowned, looking past Tom's shoulder. Tom turned his head to watch two tall monster looking men walking into the building. After a few moments of Marco still not coming out Tom began walking towards the door. "Tom where are you going?" Maisy asked, running in front of him to stop him from going any farther.
"I want to see what's going on, if he's even still in there. I don't want to let anything happen to him." Tom explained, Maisy shook her head.
"I hate to be the one telling you this but, he's not going to still be in there. But we know where they're taking him, if we go to where this file says they keep everyone we'll be able to find Marco too." Maisy explained. "There's no point going in there, we just have to go find everyone else and we'll find your boyfriend when we do. Come on." She grabbed Tom's hand once again and pulled him towards Cinnamon who was parked in the grass in front of the building.
"Where are we going?" Tom asked, pulling the file out of Maisy's hand.
"I would suggest not reading that while riding, you're going to lose the papers and we'll get lost." Maisy frowned. "On the edge of the woods there's supposed to be a building people are kept in. No one's really been that far into the woods before so it makes sense that that's where they'd keep everyone."
Tom nodded and stayed silent for the rest of the ride, he let himself fall into his mind as he began overthinking about Marco. He hated the idea of Marco never being seen again, he thought about it more than he'd like to, the thought of ever losing Marco haunted him. Just as he was really losing himself in his thoughts the dragon cycle stopped and Maisy got off.
"We're here."
