"Sarah, I don't think I look like myself."
Zorya whispered as she started at the unfamiliar person that was represented in the mirror, admiring her from the distance of her chamber. Who could be this gorgeous woman? Her name couldn't be Zorya, because she is a wild, impatient, and there was barely even a glimpse of elegance in her.
But the woman in the mirror was completely different, the woman in the mirror embraced all her insecurities, turning Zorya in a person, who could be a Queen of Walnia.
The long, golden hair was shining down her body, decorated with the most beautiful flowers that children found in the forest of Walnia, because Zorya refused all golden ornaments, wanting to remain true to herself. The gentle fabric of the simple, yet stunning white dress was pressing against her body, complimenting it , revealing just enough skin, to make her seem desirable, yet leaving enough mystery to the eyes of beholder.
Around her neck, was a necklace that her brother gave to her, so she could represent her family, and her family.
Night before a wedding day, Zorya dared to do something her brothers often done without her, because she was afraid of it. Zorya used an ink and draw the element of the forest on her right arm. After it, she found herself someone who could make a tattoo on her arm permanent. It was painful, and people were surprised she wanted to do something like that because tattoos in medieval times were mostly used for punishment of disobedient soldiers.
But Zorya wanted to have something, to represent herself.
"I think you look more beautiful than ever princess." Sarah said.
Sarah was wearing the long, blue dress, that Zorya bought for her, to show Sarah how grateful she was for her presence, because on the day like this, Zorya missed her own parents, and she was wondering if they were even still alive.
"Thank you Sarah, I am truly happy to have you by my side on such a day." Zorya answered.
"I am honored by your kind words my princess. Now we should be on our way, we don't want to let the King wait...For too long." Sarah chuckled.
Soon, the two of them were outside, followed by the children, who placed a flower crown on the head of Kreshnik. Zorya have found herself an enjoyable company in Walnia, and that company were children, she loved spending time with orphans that lived by the churches, and made sure that they always have everything that they need It didn't take her too long, to memorize every name, and face.
"Princess Zorya! You look like a fairy!" One of the little girls, named Miriam said.
"Today, we are all fairies." Zorya said, as Sarah carried the most beautiful dresses, and the suits for the little children, as they happily went to put it on them.
Soon, everyone was in front of the church, that looked even more beautiful then Zorya remembered it, since the last time she saw it.
The children were cheering, some of the people were happy about King Darius being married again, but most of them were frowning, disliking the fact that the pagan is going to become their new Queen.
Darius stood by the altar, carefully observing every step that Zorya made, trying to memorize every little detail on her, cursing his own eyes for now allowing him to do so, because with her beauty, he was sure that in some way, she could heal his damaged eyes.
"Zorya..." Her name escaped his lips.
"Darius." Zorya smiled when Sarah took her in front of him.
The priest began the holly ceremony, of bringing two souls together, and proceed with ceremony of making Zorya a queen of Walnia, by placing a small white crown upon her head.
Zorya felt hypnotized by the atmosphere, by the intoxicating fragrance of incense, by the melodic singing of the old priest and a church choir that made her soul melt.
"As I bring these two souls together, that may rule over our holly Kingdom, I present you Zorya of Gora Nevskaya, the Queen of Walnia, and you, Darius Christus, the rightful King of Walnia, a husband and a wife, with all my blessings. You may kiss your bride." The old priest said.
Darius slowly raised his hand and touched Zorya's cheek, feeling how hot her cheeks were, and how her hands were trembling in excitement.
"May I kiss you my Queen?"
Zorya haven't answered his question, she refused to waste any more time on words, as she pulled him close into a breathtaking kiss that their lips waited for so long.
The kiss, their bodies and souls were longing for so badly.
Darius broke the passionate kiss with a smile on his lips and picked up his Queen.
"Now may we celebrate the name of our new Queen." Darius said carrying her out of the church.
The lavish feast was prepared for the citizens of Walnia that glorious day.
"Zorya, tell me, are you happy?" Darius asked.
"I am, Darius." Zorya answered. After a long time, she felt tears of joy coming to her eyes.
Darius touched her arm where her tattoo was.
"I love it, but it must hurt my Queen?" Darius asked, not waiting for her answer he bent down and kissed her arm, making Zorya chuckle as the tears of joy came flowing from her crystal blue eyes.
Maybe, she loved him after all...
"Come on now, my precious Queen, this is your day." Darius said holding her hand as they made their way to the feast that was prepared.
Many people greeted King Darius with their presence, the young, and the old, the good and bad, those who were family, and those who were friends, those who were loyal to the crown, and those who were...
Traitors...
