Bounded by the holly matrimony, the alluring forest and the She-Wolf of Walnia prepared to fight the battle together as one, waiting for the enemy to advance.
The Christians prayed to their God, together in a peaceful silence as their priest chanted the prayers for their lives, and for salvation from evil pagans that were about to strike with all their might.
Zorya allowed them to pray in peace, taking of with her wolf, to say her own prayers to the gods she worshipped even thought she knew that every time she would say her prayers something in her would break, as the nostalgia of wild, pagan days would take over her.
Zorya knelt down beside Kreshnik.
''My dear friend, may the Gods be by our side, may the wrath of war take nothing away from us, may our fame that we gain in the battle give us immortality." Zorya whispered putting a war paint on her face shivering from the adrenaline that was already entering her body, like a spirit of war, making her feel like she is able to do everything.
"Мать земля, не оставляй меня. Борись за меня, и я умру за тебя!" Zorya yelled finishing her prayers. No words needed to be spoken between her and holly Mother Nature. Zorya already gave her everything she could, her soul and someday, when the time comes she will give her body as well.
Kreshnik howled loudly into the air.
The Christians were coming soon, when they finished their own prayers and prepared themselves for the upcoming battle.
"You know the plan my love, we shall bring the enemy to you. I will follow them, I want to make sure you remain safe, no matter what happens." Darius said.
"I know you will come to me." Zorya whispered not wanting to say goodbye to her husband, because after the battle, they will be together again, she wasn't capable of even imagining that the battle would have a different outcome.
The King and The Queen shared a passionate kiss that healed their soul more than any prayer ever could, giving them courage to fight harder, because their lips were longing to meet again.
"Don't worry my Queen, I will make sure my little brother comes back in one piece, I promise you that." Jonah said to Zorya making her smile. She wished luck to Jonah and Avram with a warm hug, hoping that the two of them will come back from the battle as well.
Soon Zorya remained in the forest, by the frozen lake, hidden within the nature, together with those who are to fight by her side, her faithful wolf, the archers, the soldiers, waiting for their enemies in a painful silence, hopping that their King and other soldiers will be able to close every passing and make Vikings to try to go trough the forest, leading them into Zorya's trap.
After what seemed like ages, the voices of Vikings echoed trough the forest, as they were running like the Devil himself was after them. They seemed contented about the fact they found the easy way to pass to the Kingdom, and be able to raid the civil, only obstacle was the frozen lake they had to pass.
"Stedy..." Zorya whispered to her archers who were so impatient to attack.Vikings tried taking a step on the lake, and the frost seemed firm enough to hold their weight.
"Stay calm..." Zorya warned. And so, the Vikings weren't able to stop themselves from trying to pass the lake, not even expecting what will happen to them because of their mistake.
"Now!!!" Zorya yelled as she emerged from the trees, together with her archers, shooting the lighted arrows right into the frost, immediately making it ease up under the weight of the panicked Vikings who were sinking as the painful screams followed their deaths, they realized they were caught right into the tarp.
Soon, the army of Christians followed them from behind, they were surrounded from every side, and they were in a state of a complete panic, as many of them lost their lives in the frozen lake.
"Now!!! Attack!!!" Zorya screamed from the top of her lungs raising her axe in the air, beginning to fight off those who were able to pass the lake, killing every single one of them mercilessly, leading her soldiers into the fight with the same passion she had. The army of Christians suddenly started spreading like a plague trough the forest, leaded by a pagan Queen who searched for her lover and her King in the mass with her restless eyes.
"Darius!" Zorya yelled his name from the top of her lungs feeling something cold and dark raise inside of her, never before her heart was so numb, afraid that her King was no longer there, she allowed herself to become careless.
"Die!!!" One of the Viking screamed in rage before managing to hit Zorya in her leg with his axe, giving her a wound that was enough to slow her down.
Zorya screamed in pain feeling the coldness wrapping around her body, she had no time to dodge his next hit, and in split of second, she was afraid that her life could end right there, she was afraid that her blood will color the white snow that covered the ground.
But right before, Zorya received the deadly hit, her faithful wolf jumped to save her from the tragic fate. With a shift move, Kreshnik gritted his sharp teeth into the Viking's throat, giving him a painful death, making him slowly choke in his own blood.
"Kresnhik!" Zorya yelled jumping on her feet stumbling and hugging her wolf with her blood stained hands. But as soon as Zorya held her beloved wolf, Kreshnik freed a painful howl, as soul left his body, and in ultimate horror Zorya, realized she was holding a dead body in her arms.
Zorya looked up and saw one of the Earls shooting an arrow in body of Kreshnik, delivering him a quick death.
Zorya will never forget his cold, blue eyes that were shining as he killed her best friend, the man just sentenced himself to a death penalty, because Zorya swore that she will have her revenge no matter what. Screaming from the top of her lungs, Zorya felt the pain of loss struck her even deeper, so she grabbed her axe back and jumped into the battle, with a goal to murder the one who took the life away from her beloved wolf.
His last howl, will forever will haunt her dreams.
