Leaning against my door is the one and only Cameron Gledhill, flowers in hand looking attractive as ever. He's clean-shaven with his perfectly messy hair, crisp green polo shirt, black jeans and his favourite vans.
He turns at the sound of my notebooks hitting the floor and smiles, lighting his whole face. I run down the corridor and hug him tightly. He squeezes me back just as tightly and kisses my hair.
"Happy Anniversary." He says, pulling back and handing me the flowers. I take them and try to stop myself from crying. He laughs at my watering eyes and I punch him softly in the arm. He hugs me again and I can't wipe the huge smile off of my face.
"I can't believe you're here, I thought you were busy?"
He shrugs, smile still on his face. "I have the weekend off as well but thought I'd surprise you."
I peck him on the lips, "I'm so happy."
His smile gets even brighter, "Good. Should we go inside or are we staying in the hallway all weekend." He says pointing to the door.
"Oh, yeah of course." I laugh and shake my head, trying to think straight again. I quickly jog back down the hall to collect my things from where I had dropped them.
I open the door and we both walk in. Cameron shuts the door behind him. I'm lucky enough to not have a roommate, so it's just us all weekend. If we visit each other, it's usually just for the day but now we have the whole weekend together.
I put all of my things away and come back to where Cameron is still stood in the middle of the room, the room isn't huge, a tiny kitchen against the wall as you walk through the door, a couch in front of the TV, my double bed in a corner and the door to the bathroom is at the back. I walk over and hug him again. "Best surprise ever."
He laughs, arms coming up to surround me. "Good. Not going to lie I was kinda worried I'd see you walking up with another guy."
"How do I know you haven't got another girl back at Uni."
"Because I have you, and you're way out of league. Why would I throw that away? The guys don't believe me when I show them a picture of you." I blush, and he smiles at my reaction. "Right, what time is it?"
I look at my watch; the one Cameron bought me for my birthday, and read out the time. "Ten past five."
Cameron claps his hands and then rubs them together. "About time I make you the finest meal in all the lands."
I laugh at his extravagance. "What's that then?" He smirks and pulls a pack of chicken flavoured Super Noodles out of his pocket. "Oh my God."
He kisses me on the head. "Chicken! The most romantic of all the noodles!!" I laugh as I watch him walk to the kitchen and begin to prepare our noodles.
"Have you brought anything to have with them or are we planning on having noodles alone?"
He walks over to my fridge and pulls it open. "Well- wait, there's nothing in here. How have you been living?"
"Barely." I walk up to stand beside him.
"Well it's a good job I'm here then isn't it. We'll have Ben & Jerry's for dessert, your fridge may be empty but I'd bet everything I owned on the fact that you have ice cream in that freezer." I laugh and move to block the freezer with my body.
"Nope, sorry, no ice cream in here. Give me all of your belongings."
He reaches to my sides and tickles me, causing me to have a spasm in my whole body and fall to the floor. Cameron doesn't stop and straddles me on the floor continuing to tickle me.
I'm wheezing and tears of laughter stream down my face. "Stop! Cameron, please! I can't breathe!" I keep screaming trying to get away but he doesn't stop. I start to hit his arm but it has no effect on him, he's laughing and I move on to smacking him in the chest. He stops and stands, laughing at me as I stay sprawled across the floor. "You're a prick."
He bows mockingly, "At your service." He opens the freezer. "Ha! Is this cookie dough I see?"
A few minutes later we're sat on the couch eating our noodles and watching The Big Bang Theory. My legs are in his lap, his arm resting on my shins.
"To be fair, you can make some good noodles."
"It's because of my immense romance skills. I'm like some sort of sex God."
"You wish."
"I don't have to, but I can grant yours." He wiggles his eyebrows at me and I laugh.
I finish my noodles and take both our bowls in to kitchen. "Ice cream?" I shout to Cameron on the couch.
"Is that even a question?" He shouts back. I roll my eyes and put some ice cream in two bowls. I walk over and sit right next to Cameron on the couch and tuck my legs in beside me. He reaches over and puts his arm around me, pulling me close.
"This is the best anniversary ever."
"I'm glad. But isn't this your first anniversary ever?"
I hit him lightly on the arm. "Well then it's the best and worst anniversary ever."
"Never mind I prefer the first one."
"Thought you would."
We both laugh and Cameron turns towards me. "I love you."
I shrug, "You're alright I guess." Cameron rolls his head back and groans.
"I try and be romantic and you just shoot me down." He lifts his arms and lets them drop in exasperation. I laugh and kiss the corner of his mouth.
"I love you too."
"Nope, too late now." My mouth drops open.
"You can't reject an I love you."
He shrugs, "Just did."
"You are such a prick and I love you, now accept it." He ignores me. "What a knob." I say shaking my head. He pushes me off the couch and I land hard on my bum. "Ow! My arse."
"You have a great arse." He says and I laugh.
"Not anymore, you just broke it."
"Stop over exaggerating."
"You," I point at him, "are an arse."
He shrugs, "But you love me." I nod agreeing. "And I love you." He finishes. I stand, brushing myself off.
"Good."
And I kiss him.
