Dodging Bullets || Antonio Dawson

dieciséis.

A police car pulled up in the driveway of the infamous Firehouse 51 as they were just pulling back up from a minor house fire. Matt Casey got out and looked over at his team.

"Anyone from Truck get in trouble that I need to know about ?"

Everyone shook their heads before hearing the cop car door open and shut. They looked back to see Alejandra getting out the car. Chief Boden noticed Alejandra standing there and decided to speak.

"I need everyone inside. Severide has some personal business to discuss with Detective Edwards out here."

Everyone quietly went inside with glances to Kelly Severide who was obviously irritated that this woman had the nerve to show up.  Once Kelly was done , he went inside. Alejandra sighed.

"What the hell ?" She mumbled. She knew she messed up but not this bad to the point he wanted not a damn thing to do with her. Alejandra walked in the Firehouse and went straight to Boden's office. "He won't talk to me , he literally just went inside."

Boden sighed and got up before she followed him to Kelly's room while everyone watched from their beds. Boden put his key in the door and opened it. Kelly looked up and scoffed , before going back to his paperwork.

"Thank you." She told Chief Boden as he shut the door behind him , leaving. She stood there awkwardly before sitting on the edge of the window he had in his bunk. "I'm sorry-"

"I really don't want to hear it, you said some really shitty things that night."

"I know and I'm sorry."

"Are you really sorry ?" He asked her. "Or are you only sorry because you knew you pissed me off?"

"I really am sorry Kelly. I was wasted and I let shit come out of my mouth without thinking--"

Kelly dropped his pen and stood up , turning towards her.

"So that's how you felt this whole time ? That I am an gross asshole who randomly sleeps with every fucking woman I know ?"

"No , I just, I was just so mad because I heard about you and I didn't get to know you as the person you are and I judged you. I was more mad at myself because I lied and got caught in it."

There was more silence between the two.

"You really brought up the memory of Renee-"

"I promise you I had no idea. I had no idea until Antonio, Gabby and Matt told me. I literally don't even remember that night at all. I didn't know about her and the baby and if I did , I wouldn't have said anything. I don't like hitting below the belt and once again , I apologize. For everything I said and for hurting your feelings."

More silence enveloped them before Kelly stood in front of her, putting his arms on the sides of her.

"As much as I'm mad at you for saying some of that stuff , you were right. "

She looked at him confused.

"What ?"

"You said I caused a scene on purpose and I did because you were right. I can't lose and I hate losing and I'm sorry for doing that to you and making you feeling uncomfortable."

She didn't say anything as he continued.

"The reason I'm so attracted to you is because you remind of me of Shay. You resemble her in so many ways more than one and I didn't realize why I was so angry because you reminded me of her , you always have. For awhile I thought you were Shay reincarnated so I didn't see you as Ali , I saw you as my best friend. And her death anniversary is coming up and I-"
