My best friend for 20 years is finally married today, and I couldn't be happier for her.
Seeing my best friend walk down the aisle, with her blonde hair carefully curled, her long sleeved white gown that emphasized her curved body (which, back then, I wish I had), and her beautiful smile plastered on her face as she looks at us. It was a proud look on her face as if saying that she finally made it, she's finally getting married with Jimin after failed relationships when we were in our private school.
Someday, I'd get to walk down the aisle, and be able to marry that someone who will always make my day just by seeing his smile. I want to marry someone who'd listen to every little detail I say and makes an effort to compromise whenever we need to.
Today, I was the bridesmaid, while Taehyung was the best man but the two of us didn't really interact personally during the wedding ceremony.
At the reception, my parents didn't waste any time and grabbed the opportunity to talk to Taehyung when they saw him walking towards our friends' table. It took them a few minutes before I saw how Taehyung looked like he really wanted to get out of the conversation already; with his lips sealed tight, his eyes boring into my father's eyes, and his slow nods every time my dad says something.
Jin must have have noticed me staring at my dad and Taehyung because he nudged me and whispered, "Go get your man before dad kills him with boredom."
Ignoring Jin's remark, I still stood up and walked straight to where the two were talking. I exhaled a deep breath when I was a few steps away from them, with Taehyung's back facing me.
Casually, I held Taehyung's arm and said," Would you excuse Taehyung first? I'd like to talk to him."
Taehyung looked at me sideways, somehow startled that someone held him, while my father looked happy at what he just heard.
"Taehyung? You're on first name basis now? I didn't know you'd be this close for only a short while."
Taehyung and I exchanged looks, a nervous smile om my face as I let go of his arm. Looks like my plan of getting him out of this situation backfired.
"Actually sir…" I felt an arm snake around my waist. Looking down at whose hand was on my waist, I felt a little jumpy. "We were good friends, not just mere classmates."
Before my father could even reply, I already thought of something to say. "Dad, we really need to talk now. Bye." I pulled Taehyung away from the old ones and to where our table was located.
"If you really want to talk to me, you could've pulled me to an empty room." Taehyung said beside me.
I shot him a glare. "I saved your sorry ass back there. You looked really bored talking to him."
He raised his eyebrows, unconvinced. "Well, he did bore me when he started talking about business."
"Why? I thought he was telling you about his stories when he was with your dad or something."
"I'm just tired of talking about business. It's been keeping me busy for 2 years now. I'd like to just lie low for a day and forget about business, which is something I can't seem to get."
"We had a break during Yoongi's birthday though." I said.
"But my secretary and other businessmen kept on calling me for updates and inquiries."
I raised an eyebrow. "Secretary?" I said out loud when it was only supposed to be an inner thought.
"What? Jealous?" he sneered.
