Present Time

Danny's POV

Rafe and I finally land. We managed to take down most of them Japs. As I step out of the plane, I finally let the destruction hit me. Everything was destroyed. I looked down from the wing to see Doolittle approaching. I jumped down to meet him.

"Who taught you how to fly, Lieutenant?" Doolittle asked. I squint as I turned towards Rafe's plane.

"He did," I say as Rafe steps out, lookin' worse for wear. Eventually, Rafe and I arrive at the hospital where we find Evelyn rolling around IV stands. She looks exhausted.  As Rafe and I get closer, I slowly start to worry as I don't see Carrie.

"How can we help?" Rafe asked. Evelyn suddenly looks up and her face shows relief. I give her a small smile.

"We need blood." She states. Rafe and I follow her into a back room where she sticks a needle in our arms and the other end fills up an old Coke bottle with our blood. As we're givin' blood, I can see a man dying' on the other side of a window where a pastor is standin' over him sayin' one last prayer. I swallow hard. Suddenly, I can't take the growin' feelin' of dread by not seein' Carrie.

"Hey, Evelyn. Have you seen Carrie?" I asked shakily. She gives me a worried look.

"I haven't seen her all morning. I heard from Sandra that she was ordered to go give vaccines on a ship in the harbor." She sighs. My eyes grow wide.

"Evelyn. What ship?" I questioned. She looked like she was tryin' to keep it together, but she seems to be failin'.

"I don't know. I think it was the USS Arizona." Her voice breaks. My hands start shaking and it's hard to breathe. Suddenly, a private runs in.

"We need anyone who can move. There are men stuck in the harbor." He yells. Rafe looks over at me and I nod before we both run out and head towards the harbor.

Flashback

Danny's POV

We arrived at McDonald's house. The entire drive there, all I could see was red. How could someone do that to Carrie? That bastard was gonna pay. I jump outta the truck before it comes to a stop. I marched all the way up to just before the front porch steps.

"McDonald! Get your ass down here you coward!" I yelled. I was so angry I didn't even notice Rafe was already standin' next to me. McDonald swings open his front door. I can tell he looks confused.

"What the hell are you two doin' here?" McDonald yelled. From the little light, I could see the dark circle around one of his eyes. There was a small amount of pride that went through me before I remembered what he did. I charged towards him so fast, Rafe didn't even have time to stop me.

"You sick son-of-a-bitch!" I grunted through gritted teeth before I punched him straight in the jaw. He fell onto his ass before I picked him back up by his collar and pushed him against the front of his house.

"Woah, Danny. Take it easy." Rafe says as he grabs my arm. I shrugged him off and kept glarin' at McDonald.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" I growled. McDonald smirked.

"What can I say? She came onto me. Then all of a sudden she goes crazy." McDonald lied. I slammed him against the house wall again, making him wince.

"Danny!" Rafe warned. I let go of McDonald and landed one more good punch and kick to the ribs before I finally walked away. Rafe followed me back to the truck. He grabbed me and made me look at him before I could open the truck's door.

"Danny? Talk to me, Danny." Rafe ordered.

"What the hell do you want me to say, Rafe? That jackass... he-he almost... he-he was gonna..." slowly my anger wore off. I only remember Rafe pullin' me into a hug before we finally got back in the truck and drove home. Back to Carrie.
