"Hey, dollface, you mind takin' it easy on me. My ass is one of my favorite parts of me." A man said as I filled up the syringe with the yellow fever vaccine. I rolled my eyes and flicked the glass of the syringe to make sure there were no air bubbles.
"Aw, sweety hasn't anyone told you?" I asked sarcastically.
"What's that beautiful?" He smirked. I leaned in from behind him and whispered in his ear.
"I don't really give a damn." As I stuck him as hard as I could. He let out a small yelp before taking his file from me and rubbing his behind. I smiled as I began to prepare the next syringe. The other nurses in my group and I were employed to administer the mandatory government medical certification for the new recruits. I may have been having too much fun, but I couldn't help it. Most of these guys needed a good stab in the ass. All of them are so cocky and unbearable. I would hate to stay around them longer than necessary. Suddenly I hear Evelyn shout my name. I turn and see her standin' behind me holdin' a medical folder.
"Carol, we are switching. I was told to tell you to go to eye exams." She had the biggest smile on her face.
"What are you grinnin' about?" I asked suspiciously.
"Oh, nothing." She blushed.
"Come on, Eve. I know that look. Did you meet a guy?" I inquired.
"Actually... yes." She mumbled, fiddling with the syringe I had laid out for her. My eyes widened.
"Who? What? When? Where?" I had a million questions.
"I'll tell you later." She stated before getting to work. I shrugged my shoulders and attempted to remove the curiosity from my mind. I walked down towards the eye exams where I saw an empty desk with a line of eager recruits. I took my seat and found a workin' pen. Without lookin' up I said, "File". I was tired and just wanted to get this shift over with.
"Here you are, ma'am." Someone responded with a southern drawl that sounded similar to mine, but with a much deeper voice of course. I grabbed it from his hand without another word. I flipped through the pages of paperwork until I found the correct form. I didn't even bother to look at the name cause I didn't really care.
"Read the bottom line, please. Every other letter from right to left." I instructed. The man cleared his throat before he began. As he read the letters I took note of any errors, however, there seemed to be none. Once he finished, I stamped the file with a giant red approval.
"Thank you, ma'am." He stated as I handed the file back to him. I finally looked up and met a pair of brown eyes that looked awfully familiar. His eyes widened as he stared back at my face. He must've not gotten a good look at me due to my head bein' bent over his file.
"Excuse me, ma'am, but do I know you?" He asked innocently.
"I don't believe so," I said unsurely. Before I could look at him anymore, I was snapped out of my trance and realized I still had a long line of men waitin' to take their exam.
"Next!" I called. The young man with the familiar brown eyes moved to the side, but he didn't leave. As I stamped the next man's file, the brown-eyed flyboy spoke up.
"Hey Miss, can I talk to you after your shift?" He asked timidly. I pondered my response while the next man in line handed me his file.
"I guess that'd be alright," I responded. From the corner of my eye, I could see him smiling wide. I knew I recognized that smile but from where?
Time Skip
As I packed my nurses bag and put on my cloak, Evelyn walked up to me.
