Part 24 "You're the first one"

You couldn't believe your ears right now. Was that really what you just heard? Impossible.

"Mom, y-you're alive" he whispers, being very, very quiet. You are still trying to determine is this is happening or not.

"Yes i am Luke, why are you here? Where's your sister?" she whispers back immediately, worry in the undertone of her voice.

"Don't worry, she's safe" he calms her down with a soft voice. Suddenly you hear footsteps, somebody was getting closer to the three of you.

"Luke we have to move now!" you inform him, your body becoming tense at the thought of getting caught. He transforms his fingers into claws and breaks his mom's chains. However, it makes quite a decent amount of noise which just scared you even more.

"Hey what is that?" a guard questions other guards. He flashes the light at your spot, but you have disappeared by then. Luke carried his mom as she was hurt and very thin, you guided them out of the tunnel safely somehow and managed to escape just barely. You jumped at the entrance of the tunnel where everyone else was sitting worried. Calum and Michael were pacing around and when they saw you, they ran and hugged you immediately.

"Don't ever scare us like that" they tell you. Sarah runs to hug Luke, but he stops her. Sarah moved back confused, he shows her the little pale woman, who had tears in her eyes once she took a look at Sarah.

"No" Calum says, shocked.

"I can't believe it" Mali says standing up.

"What's happening?" Michael whispers to you.

"It's their mother" you whisper, he was shocked now as well. Sarah gasped, her body was basically shaking as her own eyes couldn't believe it. She ran to her mother not a moment after to hug her tightly.

"M-mom" she cries. You couldn't help but smile at the sight, Mike too, he was actually a big softie deep down. Sierra and Crystal joined the two of you, so you just kept watching the scene unfold before you.

"My daughter" the woman places her hands in Sarah's hair, holding her close.

"Everyone this is mine and Sarah's mom, Liz" Luke whispers happily, you needed to be more quiet, the guards could maybe hear you.

"You said your parents died" Sierra comments.

"We didn't, we were only captured. If you knew how much I thought about my kids everyday, I thought I would never see you again" Liz sheds a tear from joy.

"But where's dad?" Sarah says, her voice raspy.

"He's already there, in the main base" Liz's face falls.

"We'll save him mom" he calms her. Zaine then appears from the bushes, slightly surprised once he sees Liz.

"What is happening here?" he asks calmly.

"This is our mother" Sarah says before Luke could.

"Luke found her in the tunnel" she continues. Zaine and Liz immediately got in a conversation, being the two adults here while the rest of you calmed your nerves from the mission. Zaine told her how he helped Luke and Sarah, Liz told him about how horrible these years were for her, they moved from one base to another mountain and so, hunting for other werewolves. Liz strook you like a lovely person, you can tell Luke and Sarah were her world, you were amazed she still had a happy spirit after all these years. The rest of you introduced to her, she got to know everyone a little bit. Turns out Cal and Mali know about her from a picture that was lost a long time ago, but Sarah showed it to them when they first met, their dad was in it too, amazing how they still remember her. In between that talk about twenty guards came out from the tunnel, trying to probably find you. It was good that they didn't have many guards around kids, they didn't really care about them, but that meant that there will be more guarding adults which doesn't look so good for. All of you finally slept, it was cold, you had only a thin little blanket to cover you, your warm clothes and a not that comfortable sleeping bag. Zaine tried to light a fire, but the wind was too strong for it. You curled into a ball, watching the others, Sarah was cuddled with her mom, Luke with Sierra, Michael with Crystal. At least they look comfortable and happy...warm as well... Mali seemed fine, but she was a healer, they had natural body heat whenever they wanted it. Calum was alone, shivering just like you, Zaine didn't mind it as much, but he had the warmest clothes and probably experience with this weather. You glanced at Calum, you wanted to go over there and nuzzle your head in the crook of his neck, sharing your body heat so you would warm up, but you couldn't. You looked at him for a split second more, his eyes meeting yours, you swear that if you stared at him for a second more you'd go over there, but you looked away, closing your eyes. You brought knees closer to yourself, with a small sigh and bit of optimism you tried to fall asleep.
