Chapter 1: Destiny Calling

The Tower

3rd POV

"The Last City, Earth's last functioning and occupied city in ages. A place surrounded by walls to secure themselves from the outside world, and in those walls are the Guardians. Protectors of The Last City and peacekeepers of the galaxy." The tourist lady says as she leads a group of tourists around the walls of the city. "Now if you would kindly follow me right this way, I will be introducing you to where our Guardians are located and how they operate." She says as the group of people followed close by taking in the beautiful sights of the city through the big sturdy walls.

After a few sightseeings and seeing how things operate around there, one of the tourist's daughter asks a question. "Miss, since there are no more bad people out there to hurt us, will the Guardians still be here to protect us?" the girl asks curiously to the tourist woman. "Of course, they-" she then gets cut of by a certain H/C haired man who appears to be one of the famous Hunters out there, the one and only Y/N L/N himself.

"Oh we will still be here all right, whether or not if there are any bad people out there. We will always be here to protect people like you."  The so called 'prodigy' said as he smiled towards the little girl, while the group of tourists gasped and started taking pictures of the so called famous hunter in front of them. After signing some autographs for the tourists and receiving some flirting moves and dirty talks from some women in the group, he then proceeds to the Tower in where the Vanguards are located in.

Y/N POV

After I convinced the women to stop touching me, I bid my farewell to the group before making my way to Zavala for a mission briefing. During my walk there, I encountered a certain woman. Brunette? Check. Purple eyes? Check. Has a Hunter outfit on? Check, and not to mention has an amazing hourglass figure. One of my trustworthy teammates who is no other than Olivia Shellington. An expert in close quarters combat as well as her stealth. Like seriously, she can break into someones house and not even their cat can notice her. Although she likes to tease me a lot and flirt with me time and time again, maybe she just does it for fun.

Now Olivia and I are long time partners out in the battlefield. We were both chosen to become Guardians at the same age and time. We trained and learned together, grew up together, fought many battles side by side, and were friends for a very long time. We were practically inseparable. Cayde mentored us way back when we were still rookies. Sometimes he'd scold us, or we'd scold him. Classic Cayde am I right?

But the one thing I don't know well about her, is her past. I tried talking about it with her, but it only ended up to not talking about it until the time is right sort of thing. Whatever that's supposed to mean...

"Hey there handsome, where ya headin?" Olivia asks as we walk side by side towards my destination. "Olivia, just making my way to the tower since Zavala has requested for my presence." I say jokingly as she giggles. "If it's a mission, I sure do hope it's just us two... alone~" she says seductively as she lightly slaps my ass while I stare at her in a "come on now" face.

Once we reached the entrance of the Tower, the place was filled with many other Guardians as they roam around the courtyard, while some were modifying their weapons or planning out their bounties or just interacting with one another. Others who are either departing or arriving from their successful missions. I took in the view as I gave off a quick sigh. "This place never seems to calm down does it?" I say as I view the other Guardians doing their thing by the courtyard. "Well being a Guardian is no easy job, even if our enemies has been defeated. We won the war, now it's time to clean up the mess". Olivia says as she also takes in view of the courtyard.

"Kinda weird how you can get from being flirty to being 'philosophical'" I say jokingly as she just punches my arm playfully before we make our way to where Zavala is.
