The brothers sit down on the couch and look at the bed, still a bit shellshocked. Scorpia curls up with a sigh. She falls asleep and Logan lovingly rubs her back. He gets out of bed and sits down in the comfy chair next to the brothers. He grins at them and Dino says: "Look at that happy face. Lucky bastard." Logan nods and only grins wider.
The brothers laugh and then Bruno asks: "Is that pizza?"
Logan laughs and says: "Yep. We ate pizza yesterday. Devastazione and Diavola. And there are a few pieces left." Bruno is already stuffing his face before Logan can finish his sentence.
Dino stares at him in shock and says: "Eww bro."
Logan shakes his head and says: "Food of the gods." He nods with a serious expression on his face and adds: "Scorpia ate a piece this morning." Dino's eyes go wide and Logan chuckles.
Dino gets up and says: "I'm going to call mamma."
Logan says: "I'll call Lexy. Ciro, take good care of my girl, okay?"
Ciro nods and gets up, to sit on the edge of the bed on Scorpia's side. He looks at her with a soft expression on his face. He runs his fingers through her hair and whispers: "My sweet sister. What did we do to deserve you? You're the light in our life." He wipes a tear from his cheek and thinks back to the time they were kids.
Dino walks back in and asks: "What are you thinking about, fratello?"
"The first time she hugged me." Ciro gets up and they both sit down on the couch. Logan comes back into the room and sits down with them. They look at Bruno for a second, who is still devouring the cold pizza and Ciro starts talking.
"It was Halloween and Scorpia was six. I was thirteen and didn't go trick or treating anymore. I just bought a ton of candy and watched horror movies with my friends. Dino was nine and gathered two buckets full of candy in his Spiderman costume. Scorpia was dressed as a kitty, insanely cute. But she was way too scared to go trick or treating alone and Dino didn't want her to come with him. I came downstairs to get something to drink, while my friends were watching a movie in my room. I saw her black cat bucket, without a single candy in it."
He runs a hand through his hair and continues. "She sat there crying, in the corner of the kitchen, her face-paint running down her face. I sat down on the floor next to her and carefully asked her why she was crying. She pointed at her bucket and barely audible said that she was ugly. That broke my heart and I didn't know what to say."
He sighs and looks over at the bed.
"I knew nothing about little sisters, but I did know one thing, she was not ugly. I wiped her tears away and ran upstairs with her bucket. I filled it to the brim with candy and gave it to her. I told her that she was so beautiful that I wanted her to have all my candy. She looked at me with those gorgeous eyes and gave me a hug. I really had to try my hardest not to cry. But I was thirteen, you don't cry at that age. She climbed onto the couch and I put some cartoons on for her and placed the bucket of candy next to her. She smiled at me and unwrapped the first piece of candy. I stood there for a few more minutes looking at her before I went back upstairs."
