The next day, they decided to go and talk to a gynecologist. On the way to the medical appointment, they talked about it.

-Irene, look how interesting. It says here that we can have children from each other. Wouldn't it be beautiful?

-It would be, Tam. But, let's ask the doctor about it. - She took Tamara's hand - Better to have an opinion of those who understand the subject before creating expectations.

-You're right, love. - Kissed Irene's hand - But, whatever the way, it will make me very happy.

-Everything with you makes me happy, love. - They kissed until they heard a horn. -Oops! - Started the car - Did you see what you do to me? I forget where I am.

-Better pretend I'm not here then.

-Impossible. - Winked an eye and blew Tamara a kiss - I love you!

-I love you too!

The doctor called them to enter the office and asked:

-Good Morning! Which one is Irene?

-It's me. But, the consultation is for both of us - said Irene, pointing to Tamara. - She's my bride.

-Yes of course. You can sit down, please.

-Thanks.

-Well, what's the reason for the appointment?

-We want to know about breeding methods.

-There are three methods that can be used: artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization and the ROPA method. Do you want to know about a specific one?

-What do you think, love? - She looked at Tamara.

-Can you explain each one to us?

-Sure! Well, artificial insemination or intrauterine insemination consists of placing a semen sample, previously prepared in the laboratory, inside the uterus, when the ovule is ready to be fertilized, inducing pregnancy. In your case, obviously, you would need semen from a donor.

-Yes of course.

-Already in vitro fertilization is the fertilization of the ovule with the sperm in the laboratory, with monitoring of the development of the embryo and subsequent transfer to the uterus. That is, the difference is that, in this case, the ovule is placed after fertilization inside the uterus. And again, it would also require a donor.

-And the third method? - Asked Irene.

-This is the youngest and most sought after by women who have the desire to have shared motherhood. It's called ROPA which means...

- Reception of Oocytes from Partner - said Tamara. - Sorry, I'm looking forward.

-No problem, dear. That's right. In short, one of the women provides the ovule for in vitro fertilization, which would happen in the same way as I explained before, only after fertilization the ovule is placed in the other woman's uterus. That is, the genetic mother will be the one who donated the ovule and the other will generate the child. In this way, the two participate in the pregnancy, so we say that it is a shared motherhood.

-This interests us more. - Tamara said, looking at Irene - No?

-Yes. Can you tell us more about him, doctor?

-Of course. The first thing we do is synchronize the couple's periods, so that the two are in the fertile period at the same time. Usually, we use remedies for this, in case the cycles do not match. Then, when the 2nd or 3rd day of menstruation arrives, we start the procedure. In the woman who will donate the ovule, ovarian stimulation is done to produce mature ovules, with ultrasounds and hormonal analysis for 12 to 14 days, so we monitor the best time of ovulation. At the same time, the partner's endometrium is being prepared to receive the embryos.

-Very interesting that - said Irene and took Tamara's hand - the two participate together.

-Yes, so it is recommended for those who really want to feel the whole process. Then, when the follicles have reached the appropriate size, follicular puncture is performed to extract the mature ovules. And on the same day, the recipient woman begins treatment with progesterone. Meanwhile, the semen is prepared in the laboratory to select the sperm and only afterwards is fertilization performed. While the embryos are observed in the laboratory, the other woman prepares the uterus to receive them and, when everything is ready, the embryos are transferred to the uterus and thus, pregnancy begins.

-You explain very well. Thank you!

-Thank you dear. I am passionate about what I do and there is nothing that makes me happier than seeing a couple realize their dream of having children with my help. In all these years I have helped many couples, but it is the first time that I have seen a couple of women.

-And is there a problem for you? - Asked Irene.

-None, on the contrary! I will do this with the greatest pleasure, as if I were doing it for any other couple. You are just like any other couple, actually. But, I must say that I will feel more proud this time.

-Why?

-Because I will have fulfilled my dream too. I wish I had my wife's child and I couldn't. - She got emotional - But, that is beside the point. Anyway, do you have any more questions?

-No. Thank you so much again. - said Irene.

-Thanks for everything. Let's go on a trip and only then can we start the process. But rest assured, because we will do it with you. - Said Tamara.

-Okay, dear. To the next.

-Goodbye. - The two responded.

Going home, they were silent, thoughtful, until they got home. They sat on the sofa and Irene said:

-Love, we are very lucky.

- Yes, we do. But, what are you thinking specifically?

-We have helped so many people with our relationship since the beginning. People who discovered their sexuality, couples who resumed dating, people who decided to take over the relationship publicly, and couples who decided to get married... We get so many messages about it.

-Truth. And today we discover that we can help even when we don't imagine it. Did it occur to you that the doctor would say that?

-Never. And I was even more eager to have this child. – Kissed Tamara.

-Me too. I want for you, for me, for him, for the doctor, for everyone. I want to share love! - Kissed Irene.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Perhaps my text got a little confused at the end of the other chapter and I take the opportunity to clarify here: of course they can become pregnant, but there is no way to "make a child", as a man and a woman. Sorry if I expressed myself badly. This chapter was not going to exist, at first. But, due to the comments (which I loved) in the previous chapter, I decided to publish it. Perhaps it can serve as information as well.

I take this opportunity to pay tribute to the health professionals (and all those who work in hospitals: administration, food, cleaning) who, in the midst of this pandemic, continue to work to save lives. All my admiration and respect!
