The day they went home, Tamara carried Ruth to the car and put her in the back seat, waited for Irene to get in and closed the car door. Then she came in, looked back and said:

-Can we go, my beautiful?

-You may, love. - Irene blew Tamara a kiss - I love you!

-Love you! - threw a kiss to Irene.

When they got home, Tamara got out of the car, opened the door for Irene and helped her out.

-Welcome back, love. - kissed Irene.

-Love, I was only two days away from home. - Kissed Tamara - And you were with me.

-But it is the first day that you brought our little girl in your arms. - Kissed Ruth's forehead - It's a new life.

-You see, my love? - Irene said to Ruth - This cute is your mom. She is VERY affectionate.

-And this one - kissed Irene - is your mom who deserves all my affection.

They went into the house. Tamara helped Irene to sit in the room.

-Is it okay, life? Or do you want another pillow?

-That's great, love. Do me a favor?

-Everything you need.

-Bring me a glass of water?

-Of course yes.

Tamara went to the kitchen to get the water and then sat down next to Irene.

-In a little while she cries wanting to nurse. - said Irene.

-It's the best time for me. Even her crying is cute.

-She is really sweet. It looks like Mama Tam.

-Do you think she looks like me?

-Her mouth is very similar to yours - kissed Tamara - Beautiful thing!

Ruth started to cry.

-Already going, my love. - Irene gave the breast to Ruth - There.

-I wanted to have that feeling. - She picked up Ruth's little foot - It must be wonderful.

-Yes it is. But, it is inexplicable. It doesn't compare to anything.

-One day I want to live this.

-Are you already thinking about another son, love?

-Not now. In two...

-Months? - said Irene, startled.

-Years. - Tamara said, laughing - Don't worry, love. I will not do this madness.

-Ufa! I thought I was going to have to take care of four babies in no time. I wouldn't be able to handle it.

-Four? I meant three, right?

-Counting my big baby, four.

-Idiot! - Kissed Irene - Want more water, love?

-I want to, please.

-I'll be back.

Tamara came back and handed the water to Irene.

-Already slept?

-Sleep. I'm going to put it in the crib because I need to go to the bathroom.

-Go love. I stay with her.

When Irene returned, Tamara was holding Ruth on her lap and she was admiring for a while.

-Beautiful scene! - Kissed Tamara - I can't get enough of looking.

-I can't get enough of looking at her. - She said excitedly.

-That way nobody does anything else in this house.

-I told you I was going to hire a cook and you didn't want to.

-I thought we could handle it.

-But being a nanny takes a long time.

-Being nanny or drooling?

-Babar, no bib. - Sniffed Ruth's head- What a nice smell, mom.

-It's a delight. But, put it in the crib again. She can't get used to the lap.

-Oh no. I'm doing so well.

-Love...

-Fine. - Put her in the crib - I'll make lunch.

-I help you while she's sleeping.

-No way. You can be quiet here.

-Tam, I'm not sick. Let me help you?

-OK. Let's go.

They went to the kitchen and took Ruth in the crib. They started making lunch together and Ruth woke up.

-I'm going to change the diaper; she must have woken up for that. - said Irene.

-Let me change, love?

-Of course, you do better than me.

-It's easy, love. Want to see?

-Go, teacher, teach me.

-So pay attention. - Was doing and explaining - See? Only that.

-How delicate, my wife. - Kissed Tamara - I loved the class.

-I'll give you another class later. About bath.

-Convinced! - Kissed Tamara - I look forward to it.

-Whenever I can I will help you, love. I don't want you to do everything yourself.

-I love you, you know?

-Really? - Kissed Irene - I love you too.

Irene made Ruth sleep and put her in the crib.

-Lunch ready. - Said Tamara.

-I'll make my dish before she wakes up.

While Irene was eating, Ruth woke up.

-Yeah, now she must want to nurse again.

-You can give it to her, I'll help you eat.

-Love, you don't even exist.

-I am. And I give you food in your mouth if you need to.

-Thank you honey. Your support is very important to me.

-No need to thank, love. I do it because it is the least I can do to repay you for the nine months that you carried that tenderness in your belly and still took care of the house, Alex and me. - Kissed Irene - Thank you.

-I love you - said Irene, emotionally.

-I love you forever - kissed Irene - My queen.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

One of the reasons that led me to plot this fic was to show that people of any sexual orientation can form a family. But, obviously, this is a different family. And not just because they are two women, because they have an adopted son who has Down syndrome or because they had a daughter in a shared pregnancy; and yes, because this family is against any kind of prejudice and racism. All human beings have (or should have) the same rights before society. But, unfortunately, not everyone thinks so; and it is precisely what we think and how we act that makes us different.

"It is our choices that reveal who we really are; much more than our qualities."
