Tamara was with Alex on the playground and Irene making lunch. When she called them, Alex said:
-Mom, can Joana go to lunch too?
-Son, of course she can. But, we have to ask her mother. - said Irene.
-Ask, mom!
-We are going with Mom to take Joana to her house and we ask, son. - Tamara replied.
-OK. - He gave his hand to Joana.
-Tam, I'll wait for you at home. - said Irene.
They went to take Joana home. She ran in and called her mother. Then the two arrived at the gate.
-Good afternoon. Joana said you wanted to talk to me. My name is Sonia.
-Good afternoon. My name is Tamara. I wanted to invite your daughter to lunch at my house.
-Leave it, aunt! - Shouted Alex. - Please!
-Calm down, son.
-Well, if it's not uncomfortable for you.
-No way. It will be a pleasure to receive Joana; she is very affectionate with Alex.
-She really likes him. She talks about him all day and is sad when she doesn't find him at the playground.
-He also misses playing with her.
-Ah. Well, I'll let you go. But please, if she bothers you, you can bring her back.
-Of course. But, I'm sure it won't bother me.
-Does Joana go, mother?
-Yes son.
-Oh! Thanks aunt! - ran and hugged Sonia's legs.
-You're welcome! - She looked at Tamara - Your son is very polite and kind.
-Thanks. - She turned to Alex - Come on, son?
-Let's go! - He gave his hand to Joana and walked away.
-Tamara, I'm sorry for another day. We see everything there. But, Joana speaks so well about Alex that I realized I was being prejudiced. Children sometimes teach us. Do you believe she researched the Internet about Down syndrome? I read with her and I felt terrible. She said she wants to be a psychologist when she grows up. And I think she has a gift.
-Good that your daughter helped you to understand this.
-And I wanted to apologize, but, I was watching you and your...
-Wife.
-Wife?
-Yes, we're married.
-So, I was seeing you and your wife with Alex at the playground and, I thought you two were so beautiful together. You look so happy. - She had tears in his eyes - You made me see the bullshit I did in the past. I sent my son out of the house because he told me he was gay. - Started to cry - I even called him and apologized. Forgive me for acting that way?
-You are forgiven. Good to know that you have learned to respect differences.
-Thanks, Tamara. Thank your wife too. I have to finish preparing my lunch.
-I have to go too; Irene must have thought it strange that the children arrived alone.
-That, comes on. After bring on Joana, please.
-Of course. See you later.
-Up until. Thanks.
Tamara went into the house and found Irene at the table with the children.
