*Alice's POV*
"Well, you were gone away for too long. I just came up to check up on you. You can't even acknowledge that and you're scolding me. The world is turning into a nasty place. Nobody can even worry about their best friends. Noooooo! They want privacy and whatnot..." my best friend huffs to take a breath and keeps on ranting her non-sense. This is her usual self. Whenever I scold her for something, (not seriously, just as a joke) she starts just speaking random shit out of her head and never stops before I shout again, and then we start laughing.
"... and it's not like I WANTED to interrupt you and your oh-so-romantic talks with your man, I was simply checking up on you! You cannot just forget me when you get a man in your life, you know! I mean..."
"OH MY GOD, YOU CRAZY COW! CALM THE FUCK DOWN!!!!" I yell at her, finally tired of comprehending how she can come up with so many words non-stop.
As usual, she takes a breath, tries to glare at me, emphasis on the word 'tries' and then when I glare back at her, we finally start laughing like crazy until our tummies start to hurt.

"God, I'm full. I'm absolutely full. But it was sooooo amazing."
"Totally worth the wait" I agree to Tess. Mum prepared her special apple pie today and I swear it was heaven in my mouth. We talk some more about the dinner and then as usual, we start talking randomly about any and every topic that lies between A to Z.
We were just talking about something Hollywood when I sensed my phone vibrating. It was Shane calling. I quickly pass a "Hold on" in Tess's direction and turn around before I answer the call to hide my blush.
"Hey!" I say as I press my phone near my ear.
"Ali, I... we crashed somewhere... Sheldon and I... we were coming to your place and then... we crashed... we... I don't know where we are... can you come...?"
"OMG! Shane, hold on. We'll be right there with mum and dad. Just take care of Sheldon and yourself. I'll be there."
"Ali... Ali, my head hurts. I think I hit my head. Can you please come?... please..."
"Shane, I'm coming honey. Hold on. Just hold on. Talk to me"
The line on the other side goes blank. I don't know what to think right now and OMG he hit his head. Images of what might be about to happen crash into my mind and I turn to Tess and manage to tell her before I convert into a sobbing mess.
"Tess... he was on the way to meet us and...and they crashed somewhere. He... he says he hit his head. What do we do, Tess? OMG!"
"Okay, girl. Calm down. Calm down. Deep breaths. Let's go to him. Get your parents and the car. Call his parents from your mum's phone. I'll track his phone and call the ambulance from your phone"
"Okay. Okay, yeah alright." My mind finally turns to the logical side and I rush to my parents with Tess right behind me.
"MOM, DAD!"
"Here, honey." My mom calls out to me from the kitchen.
"Mom, dad, Shane just called. They was about to come our place and their car crashed somewhere down the road to our home. We need to go. Now."
I try to hide the fear in my mind and talk as normally as I can. Mom immediately rushes to my side and consoles me while dad calls out to all of us to get in the car. Tess and I get into the back seat as dad speeds towards the road to Sacramento which Shane and Sheldon usually take while coming to our place.
Mum already called Aunt Jenna and they are on their way too. After continuing towards his location for 20 minutes, my heart is racing in my chest and the tears won't stop at all. Tess, bless her, is right beside me, holding my hand and consoling me, assuring me, that it'll be fine. They'll be fine. That is when I see it. I see their car. The car has crashed into the tree at the edge of the road. It's bad. I can see it from 10 feet away. It's really bad. Tessa is calling to check up on the whereabouts of the ambulance as I rush to the driver's seat.
Shane is there. But my heart drops and I can't stop the tears when I see that he's unconscious...
