"Patty, who is it?" Monica laughed, running after her. "If this is my boyfriend tell him he's in trouble." Monica stopped laughing as she saw Joe standing at the front door. "What the hell are you doing here?" She spat at her brother then looked at her best friend that had tears in her eyes. "You shouldn't just come."

"It's okay." Patty put her hand on her shoulder, squeezing it lightly. "Nonna will be thrilled he came." She pushed away the tears and made room for Joe to walk in. "I'll be in my room." She excused herself.

"Joe, you came." Nonna hugged his grandson tightly. "We havent heard from you for months."

Joe finnaly faked a smile, pushing a few roses wirh a small box in her hands. "Happy birthday Nonna." He kissed her cheek. "I'm sorry I interupted the party but I needed to see you. Both of you." He looked from Nonna to Monica."

"Just us?" Monica rolled her eyes, almost exploding from anger. "How about Patty? Did you need to see her too? She is preg..."

"Monica!!" Nonna warned. "Go in the kitchen and prepare the table for us. The quest will arive shortly." Monica rolled her eyes when no one could see her. If it would be up to her she would tell him everything right then and there.

"I'm sorry I didn't call." Joe kissed her forehead, pulling her closer, inhaling the rosy scent that felt like home to him. "After Patty tried to trick me... I pushed everyone away. It hurt so bad."

"No son, don't talk like that. You don't know the whole story." Nonna put her old, wrinkled hands on his cheek. "You know her, she would not do such things."

"I tought I knew her." He chuckled, turning around because he suddenly felt uncomfortable. And because he wantes to hide the pain. "I can't even look at her, walking so proudly around here. I shouldn't come."

"Stay." Nonna begged. "You don't have to talk to her. But stay for me." She smiled, grabbing Joe's hand.

Joe gave in. "Fine but I am leaving tomorrow."

Patty was standing at the begining of the staircase, listening to every word Joe and Nonna said. She tried to hold the tears in for so long until they bursted down her cheeks. "I can't even look at her." Is the sentance that kept repeating in her head over and over again.

Patty finally had enough, running to her bedroom, laying down on the bed. She let the tears fall down on her belly where their unborn baby is sleeping. Far away from harsh truth. "He doesen't deserve us. He doesen't deserve you." She held her tummy with both her hands.

"Patty, all the quests are here!" Monica called her her best friend but when there was no answer she slowly walked to her room. Patty was sleeping peacefully but she saw the redness under her eyes. Monica pulled a cover on top of her, leaving her to rest because god knows she need is.
