The next day I was getting ready. He told me to wear something comfortable so I did. I put on a Guns N Roses shirt, black leggings, and Converse. I brushed my hair and was about to put on makeup when my know started to ring. It was Jake.
"Hey Jake, what's up?" I answered the phone.
"Hey Cody. I'm so sorry, but I'm gonna have to take a rain check. Something kinda came up." He apologized.
"What happened? Is everything okay?" I asked.
"Yeah. I just gotta stay home. Cause someone fell through." He sighed.
"Um... O-okay." I responded.
"It's only 11. I'll try and get things sorted out by 4. So it may not be completely off."
I agreed and I hung up. I sat on my bed and thought about what could've happened. My mom came in. She noticed that I was looking down so she sat next to me.
"What's wrong sweetie?" She asked.
"I had a date tonight, and it may or may not be cancelled." I sighed.
"Explain..." She insisted.
"Well remember Jake Gander?" I began.
"Are you kidding me?" She sneered obviously not approving. "His parents said that he ran away."
"Emily and I went to the music store at the mall and I were looking for the Heaven And Hell album. He overheard us and apparently bought the last copy so he gave it to me." I pointed at the album that was sitting on my dresser. "He's the most sweetest person I've ever met. Completely different. And we were supposed to go on a date tonight. But he just called and said that someone fell through, and he'll try and work things out. So it's not completely cancelled." She stood up.
"Your dad's not gonna like that you're dating him due to how he 'was'." She then walked out.
At 3 Jake finally called back.
"So it's back on, I got everything sorted out. Sorry, and I understand if you don't want to go anymore." He announced.
"I'd love to go still. All I gotta do is put on a little makeup. When are you picking me up?" I assured.
"About 5?" He implied.
I agreed and started getting ready again. I finished my makeup just in time to go out the door. He was waiting by his car to open the car door for me. I got in the front passenger seat.
"I'm happy you still came. I was scared you changed your mind." He said.
"I am too. So where are we going?" I replied.
"Well I thought we could just talk and get to know each other and learn when we've been up to while watching the sunset." He answered.
"Sounds perfect."
We soon got to a spot and got out. We layed a blanket out on the grass and sat down. It was a perfect view of the sunset.
"So what have you been doing?" I asked.
"Well, this is gonna be the biggest turn off. But I have a 2 yesr old daughter. The reason this was about to be cancelled was because I couldn't find a babysitter." He responded.
"You have a daughter?" I was confused and shocked.
"Yeah. There's probably a trillion different stories of why I dropped out. But the reason was because my girlfriend at the time was pregnant and I wanted to take care of my child and she didn't." He elaborated. "So nothing beats that level of turn off." I rested my head on his shoulder.
"No. It's actually a turn on. It shows how caring and sweet you really are." I assured. We both smiled. "You used to be a big jerk. But now you're a teddy bear."
