Remus knew that he was dead the second Logan got home from work, but it would totally be worth it. Logan had asked Remus that morning to go by their local health foods grocery. When he'd gone to the grocery store, Remus had spotted a petstore a few buildings away. The next thing he knew, he'd spent their grocery money on a small kitten. Logan was going to be pissed.

"Come here, Dumbo." Remus called for the kitten, who came bounding over to him. He scooped up the cat in his arms and she promptly started nibbling on his hand. Dumbo was a little tiger. She thought she was much tougher than she actually was. The two of them were sitting in the middle of the living room floor. This was the first pet that Remus ever had. His parents hadn't thought he was responsible enough for any sort of pet, so his childhood was cat-less. This would be fun!

"Remus, I'm home!" Logan's voice called from the front door. Remus panicked, shoving the little kitten into a nearby closet. Dumbo let out a small mewl before being shut away. Remus felt bad about it, but it was for the greater good.

"Hey, Lo-Lo." Remus yelled back. Logan walked into the living room and set his work bag down in an armchair. That chair was a housewarming gift from Remus's mom, but neither of them had any intention of using it. It was much too extravagant for Logan's taste, and Remus felt like it was more like something his brother would like. The chair had basically become the designated spot for Logan's work bag.

Remus heard quiet scratching coming from inside the closet. He prayed that Logan didn't hear it and quickly tried to cover the sound by making small talk. "How was your day?"

"I can't really complain. It wasn't unbearable, but I have to admit that certain people were completely irrational." Logan sat on the couch, rubbing his temples slowly. Remus smiled sympathetically and laid down on the couch, laying his head on Logan's lap looking up at him.

"Well you know I'd know nothing about irrationality." Remus said sarcastically. Logan chuckled at that and started running his fingers through Remus's hair.

"Of course not." Logan responded. Remus scrunched up his nose and smiled softly. They stayed on the couch together for a few minutes before Logan noticed something. "Do you hear something scratching?"

Sh**. Remus had forgotten that he needed to cover up the sound of Dumbo scratching at the closet door.

"Uhh no do you hear scratching I don't hear scratching hey look it's almost five o'clock you should be getting to bed!" Remus rambled, sitting upright.

"Remus, we both know that I go to bed at 10:00 sharp."

"Oh uh, really?" Remus said. "Well maybe it's time to shake things up a little! You look exhausted, Lo."

"On the contrary, I'm quite fine-."

"Yep! You look really really tired. You should go to bed right now." Remus said, pulling Logan towards the bedroom. Logan let himself be led for a few seconds before yanking his hand free.

"Remus, what's going on? You're acting really unusual."

"Me? Unusual?" Remus laughed nervously. "Nahhhh."

"Well now I'm definitely concerned. What is going on?"

"Nothing!" Remus said. Immediately after saying that, they both heard something slam against the closet door. Remus looked wide eyed at Logan, who was giving him a suspicious look. "Don't."

But he did. Logan ran to the closet door and opened it wide enough for the little cat to run out. Dumbo lept into Remus's arms. Logan stared at Remus in utter disbelief.

"Remus." Logan sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Please don't tell me you bought a cat."

"I wasn't planning on telling you..." Remus muttered, holding Dumbo close to his chin. Logan took in the image of Remus and the cat. He knew that a pet was going to be a great responsibility and financial investment. They definitely weren't prepared to take care of a kitten! But it clearly was making Remus happy to have company when Logan wasn't home.

"Remus... I.." Logan didn't know what to say. Saying that they could keep it would prevent him from returning the cat, but saying that they had to take it back would upset Remus. He sighed and shut his eyes. "Did you at least purchase a littler pan?"

"No..."

"I'll go by the pet store tomorrow on my way home. For now let's just use a couples newspapers."

"Wait, so we're keeping her?"

"If that's what you want, sure." Logan shrugged. Remus was smiling ear to ear. He put the cat on the floor and tackled Logan in a hug.

"I f***ing love you."
