"Blinded by Love" [angst]

A/N:  Requested by annonymous!  It's kind of short, but I hope it's at least half-way decent lol

Also, yes, I changed the cover because I saw the same fanart being used for like 8 story covers XD

(TW:  Detailed injuries, crying, mention of being beaten, I think that's all but let me know if I missed anything that warrants a warning)

 Remus had been waiting in the Dark Side's equivalent of the Mind Palace for three hours. Logan had promised to meet him there a while ago, but he hadn't shown up yet. Remus tried to convince himself that Logan was just tied up with work, but he couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.

"Salutations." Logan's voice came from the doorway. Remus perked up at the sound of his lover's voice. Logan was standing by the door, but it was too dark to get a good look at him.

"Logi!" Remus exclaimed, jumping up from where he had been sitting and rushed over to give him a big hug. Remus embraced his boyfriend with strong arms. Logan didn't return the hug. After a few seconds of ignorant bliss, Remus noticed little things about Logan were... off.

He normally had perfect posture, but he was slouching forward a bit. His hair that was usually combed neatly and gelled was a scruffy mess. Even Logan's breathing was heavier than normal.

"Is everything okay?" Remus asked, stepping back a little. The instant he got a good look at Logan's face his confusion shifted into worry.

Logan was wearing what looked like Remy's sunglasses. His forehead and cheeks were covered in shallow-looking cuts. There was a large blue and black bruise on the left side of his face that looked like it was caused by something slamming against Logan's head.

"Firefly, what the f*ck happened?!" Remus asked, instantly filled with a mixture of fear and fury. Logan stood still for a moment, completely paralyzed. Everything finally hit him with the impact of a tidal wave, and he fell to his knees. The 'borrowed' sunglasses slid right off his face exposing his teary eyes. Remus crouched down in front of him, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Ro-Roman found out." Logan choked out between racking sobs, hanging his head low enough to stop Remus from seeing his eyes.

"About what?"

"About us. I don't know when or how, b-but he stopped me on my way h-here." Logan stammered. "He interrogated me about... about our relationship and... he got mad."

Remus reached out to lift Logan's chin. At first Logan tried to stop him, but he didn't have the strength to fight Remus's strength. Remus lifted his head up enough to make eye contact. The instant their eyes met, Remus felt his blood run cold. Logan's eyes were unfocused and instead of their normal shade of dark brown they were a pale cloudy color.

"He... he blinded you?" Remus whispered. Logan's unseeing eyes welled up with tears. Remus immediately pulled Logan into another big hug, his heart throbbing at the sound of Logan's sobs. He knew that Roman would never have approved of their relationship, but never in a million years did he imagine that Roman would go this far. Even if it was an accident, it was unforgivable. Remus's anger towards his brother changed to heartache for his partner.

"He didn't mean to... I don't think he meant to. He was just... furious." Logan sniffled.

"It's okay. It'll be okay." Remus soothed, smoothing Logan's messed up hair. "You'll be okay."

"How do you know?"

"Because I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure of it."

"God, I love you."

"I love you, too, Logi." Remus pressed a kiss to his partner's forehead. "Let's get those cuts cleaned, okay?"

"Okay."

Remus helped Logan to his feet, leading him to his room so he could treat his wounds. Logan was afraid. More afraid than he'd ever been in his entire life. But knowing that Remus would be at his side through everything was comforting. It didn't make everything okay, but it gave Logan a tiny shred of hope.

And in that moment, he desperately needed that.
