jisung was eavesdropping.
he had become quite good at that, despite being only being a 10 year old who was living in a grimy orphanage. He had been told his parents had died in a car crash and had been living in his tiny room, which held a half-broken lamp, a dusty bed, a creaky wooden table, and a chair that was missing one leg, for 2 years now. he thought about his parents a lot. jisung missed them, but he couldn't even bring himself to cry anymore.
a sharp voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
right. he was listening to the conversation happening between the orphanage lady, mrs. lee, and the mystery suit man that had arrived at the orphanage several hours earlier. no one had the money to buy a suit around here. that was what really caught jisung's attention in the first place. his suit.
"what's his name?" a deep voice snapped, sounding slightly impatient.
"the boy? jisung, han jisung."
they were talking about him. why? did he do something wrong?
"age." the same impatient voice demanded.
"h-he's t-ten..."
"okay. this is the right person." the voice sounded much more satisfied. he chuckled. "thank you for your cooperation, Mrs. Lee." the sound sent shivers down jisung's spine.
"wait- you can't go in there! stop!" Mrs. Lee's panicked shout seeped through the now open door. mystery suit man had pushed open his thin, creaky door open and had clicked on the flickering lamp that was placed on his table.
jisung barely had time to utter a surprised noise before the suit man grabbed his arm in a tight grip and yanked him out of his bed.
Mrs. Lee gasped. "what? where are you taking him? and right now? this wasn't our agreement-"
the man smirked. "change of plans." he pushed the poor woman out of the way, still holding onto jisung's arm. the 10 year old was dragged and thrown into the arms of two men wearing black.
where did they even come from? jisung winced as the first man threw him over his shoulder and began to turn around. the impact had left an aching pain in his ribcage.
Mrs. Lee dashed toward him. "it's alright, jisung, these men are very safe and trustworthy. you'll be fine." she strained out a smile.
the suit man smiled too, but it didn't reach his eyes. "yes. you'll be very safe with us."
that was the worst lie jisung was ever told.
