seungmin's eyes widened and he brought his knee up to hyunjin's groin. the latter yelled out in pain and fell to the floor.
"run!" seungmin yelled, not even attempting to take his beanie, which was now in hyunjin's hand. felix, jeongin, and jisung instantly began to run but a cry stopped them.
"don't move or ill shoot." the gang member panted, fumbling with his gun. he had not seen seungmin's exposed ears, but as soon as he looked up, his eyes landed on the very obvious pair of brown ears on top of the hybrid's head.
"what the fuck..." hyunjin gasped at the sight. his eyes flickered to the ears, then to the beanie in his hand, then to the beanies on the other's heads. "what... are you? definitely not orphans... or humans." hyunjin took a step back, dropping the beanie and pulling out the whip instead. "don't come closer." he hissed.
"wait-" seungmin tried to walk over to the tense boy, but hyunjin interrupted him. "you guys must me monsters..." he examined seungmin's twitching ears in fear.
all four of the hybrids flinched back at that word. "shut up. you don't know what we are." felix snapped back. "well tell me, or i'll kill all of you. right here, right now. and if you run then," in a blink of an eye, he stepped forward and grabbed seungmin by the arm. "you're leaving him behind."
seungmin panicked at being this close to hyunjin, but managed to choke out a frantic "just go."
"oh no," hyunjin smirked, bringing the gun to seungmin's head. "don't you dare move." the boy in his grip began to struggle against his hold, but hyunjin had a death grip and seungmin wasn't very strong in the first place.
jisung was panicking, unsure on what to do. they had just gone out for ramen, how had it all gone so wrong?
"we're government experiments and we don't remember anything and we're harmless just don't kill us." jeongin basically rapped.
hyunjin raised an eyebrow at the cute boy's words. "government experiments? so you work for them?" he asked, digging the gun into seungmin's temple almost painfully.
"no, we ran away from them. now get this gun off me." seungmin gritted out, tears threatening to spill from his eyes. he tried to yank his arms out of hyunjin's hand, which was firmly wrapped around his wrists. the hybrid didn't even know why he was so full of emotions, maybe it was the painful position he was in, but the sudden rush of emotions this stranger had managed to induce on him was both exhilarating and uncomfortable at the same time. and he hated it.
"let go of him! we're innocent, you just suddenly came in and attacked us. we're trying to live a normal life, not be kidnapped by some pedo!" jisung defended the situation, bravely stepping toward the pair.
"first of all, looking at these," he nudged one of seungmin's ears with the handle of his gun. seungmin flinched harshly. "you guys are far from normal. second, i don't think i'm much older than you, even if there is an age gap."
"you're an asshole." jisung spat.
hyunjin sighed. "really? fine. i'll show you that i'm NOT an asshole." he released seungmin, who immediately rushed over to his friends. the gang member's face fell for a moment, but he shook his head and simply sat down on the floor.
"uh... what are you doing?" jeongin stared back at the boy. "i'm waiting for you to tell me. i'm not threatening to kill anyone like an asshole." hyunjin responded.
"run!" felix gasped, about to bolt. "no, wait felix. we can use this situation." seungmin stopped his friend. "would you give a place to stay if we tell you the full story?" he addressed the boy on the ground, who just looked very amused.
"what are you doing?" jisung whispered and jeongin nodded in agreement. they didn't trust the strange masked boy. "just hear him out. we can use this to our advantage. besides, he knows now. we don't really have another option." seungmin muttered. jisung definitely thought it was something else but he kept his mouth shut.
"i mean..." hyunjin tapped his chin. "i guess i could take you to our house. chan wouldn't be that angry right?" he muttered to himself. "okay sure!" he lifted his eyes. "so spill."
the four gave him a short recap of the situation, (leaving out several details) and also told him that they needed to pick up their stuff from their hideout in a near alleyway. hyunjin nodded along to their story and sat there in disbelief.
"that is the weirdest fucking thing i've heard in my life." he laughed in utter confusion and slight horror. "what have i gotten everyone into..." he mumbled under his breath. "well can i at least see what your ears look like?"
jeongin took off his beanie, felix yelled a 'no!', and jisung asked him why.
"i don't know, i'm just curious." hyunjin shrugged. "also, what're your names? i only know seungmin's."
jeongin perked up. he had ultimately decided to side with seungmin and trust hyunjin, as he was excited in the prospect of meeting new people. "i'm jeongin, a fox hybrid. that's felix, a cat hybrid. he's kinda rude right now, but he can be a lot of fun." that statement earned a glare from felix. "and that's jisung. he's another cat hybrid. you already know seungmin." he said awkwardly. "he's a dog hybrid."
hyunjin nodded. "thank you jeongin. nice to meet you all." he rose from the floor. "i'm sorry for the horrible first impression." he giggled. "now will you take me to your hiding area so we can pack and get to my house? its getting kinda hot." the boy scratched at his black hood and slipped it off, revealing his black, slightly curly locks.
"alright." felix just sniffed pettily and stomped off down the street. jisung shot an apologetic look and started toward his fellow cat hybrid. jeongin cheerfully smiled and offered to show hyunjin the way.
seungmin just stared at hyunjin's face, seemingly entranced.
"no, its quite alright." hyunjin politely declined jeongin's offer, smirking. "i'd rather have seungmin do that for me." seungmin jumped at the sound of his name. "me?" he backed away.
jeongin just silently laughed at showed a thumbs up to seungmin, who was terrified. the happy boy skipped off, catching up to jisung.
"so, care to start moving or...?" hyunjin waved a hand in front of seungmin's face. "yes. we are going now, yes we are doing that. this way please." seungmin walked and talked like a robot.
hyunjin just found it incredibly cute. "you know you can be comfortable with me, right?"
"with someone who just tried to kill me?" he snapped. "and kissed me?" he muttered the second part under his breath. "well you can still be comfortable." he didn't hear his muttered words or had decided to ignore them. hyunjin kept pace with the other, creating conversation that seungmin was obviously very reluctant to take part in.
"also, i'm really sorry about um..." hyunjin started. "threatening to kill you. i kind of had to."
"i'm not angry at that." seungmin huffed. "ah, so you ARE angry!" hyunjin pouted. "is it because of me?" seungmin's brain was going on full panic mode at that pout. "yes." he simply answered.
"oh." hyunjin suddenly realized. "it was the kiss, wasn't it. am i really that bad of a kisser?" he teased. "no-" seungmin shook his head. "so i AM a good kisser?" hyunjin clapped his hands together in delight.
"yes- wait no- wait. why am i even talking to you? i'm still mad at you." seungmin grunted in frustration.
"aw. will you forgive me if i do it again?" hyunjin snaked an arm around his waist. "would you like that?"
seungmin pushed the arm away. "no, but i will if you never do it again. so let's just catch up to them." he briskly walked away. he could fully hear the gang member's laughs behind him. "stop laughing at me!" he yelled.
"sure, sweets."
the poor dog hybrid internally screamed for the rest of the walk.
