"what... do you think we should do?" jeongin tentatively spoke up. he shook his head, reassuringly placing a hand on jisung's shoulder. "that man is crazy."

"this whole situation is crazy. we're government experiments for fuck's sake!" felix snapped at the boy. he sighed, instantly regretting it. "sorry jeongin, i didn't mean that."

"its okay hyung, we're all on edge here." jeongin sadly smiled.

"well, i don't think we should just lay around here. we're definitely not listening to crazy government dude right?" seungmin inquired, looking at his comrades. 

"duh," jisung rolled his eyes playfully. "we're getting out asses out of here- wait! not asses, tails, out of here as soon as possible." the group laughed at jisung's obvious tail joke. 

"well, does anyone have any ideas? like any creativity would really be appreciated here." seungmin sassed as he stood up and yanked on the bars of their prison. "that's not going to do anything, seungmin. let's all try together." jeongin suggested, standing up and making his way over to where seungmin was persistently tugging on the white poles. 

"oh, you really think we can bend the bars?" felix stood up. "well, the dude said we're not really human, so..." seungmin shrugged. "maybe we're stronger than normal human beings- ow!" he landed on his butt after his grip on the smooth surface of the bars slipped. 

"uh... i don't think so." felix laughs, along with jeongin and jisung. 

meanwhile, jisung was trying to squeeze through the bars. by twisting his spine and tightening his ribcage, he found that he could almost slip through the gap. "hey guys! over here! i think if you guys help me bend these a tiny bit, i could slip through and do something."

jeongin's eyes lit up. "woah, that's cool! felix... hyung? can you do that too?" felix shrugged. "i can try."

the cat hybrid began to squeeze his way through the bars. however, the gap was just insufficient like it was for jisung. "i can't, but i think jisung's right. can we try to bend the bars a tiny bit? i think it would work."

an hour and a lot of pulling later, they had managed to make a small bit of additional space appear. "great!" jisung panted. "this should be enough. felix, let's try." 

"alright, i think that's enough pulling." with a light chuckle, felix began to fit himself through the bars. he stretched and squeezed, desperately attempting to fit through. his efforts succeeded and felix found himself on the other side of the white bars. jisung soon followed suit and they began to inspect the room. 

"you know, i think they gave us many more abilities than they thought." jisung said, brushing himself off. seungmin nodded in agreement, observing jeongin's teeth while the latter just curiously ran his fingers along his own tail. 

after a few minutes of searching, however, they had come up with nothing that could help them escape. 

"how about the door? the one the man went out of." seungmin questioned from in the cage. "nope, there's a keypad." jisung peered at the flashing buttons. "and i don't think the main halls are the best option." 

"yea... but i don't know if we have any other option, the walls are literally bare." felix noted, tracing the boring monochrome walls. 

that was when jisung got an idea. "the walls... the walls are bare. no one said anything about the ceiling." he smirked. felix, who was staring emotionlessly at the floor, perked up, looking toward the ceiling. 

"there's an air vent!" felix excitedly gasped. "jisung, you're a genius!" jisung laughed. "well, i don't know about that, but you're right about the air vent part." 

"um, can you let us out first?" jeongin tapped on the door of the cage. "i don't think you should leave us behind." 

felix apologetically laughed. "of course. sorry." the pair jogged over to the firmly locked door. 

"its just a combination lock." jisung informed jeongin and seungmin. "i think it should be easy enough to break." sure enough, with a few blows from felix and jisung, the lock snapped into half. "what the fuck? some kind of security this place has." seungmin scoffed, watching as the door swung open with ease. 

"well, i'm not complaining," jisung shrugged. "now how do we get to the vent?" 

"we climb the cage, duh. there's not much of a choice here." felix pointed at the bars. "it should be alright, they look pretty easy to climb." 

the small group agreed and they began to climb. being cat hybrids, felix and jisung had the advantage and had to help seungmin and jeongin, but they all managed to get on top of the metal cage. the ceiling was not very far from the top of the cage, so the four teens had to crouch. 

"this is really uncomfortable." jisung muttered, reaching for the air vent. he gave it a good tug and the plastic snapped of the wall with a loud noise. 

they were all slightly shocked. "wow that was really loud." jisung said sheepishly. 

"no shit sherlock." seungmin said. he took the large air vent cover and dropped it to the ground, creating a massive thudding noise. the cheap piece of plastic was almost half the size of the cage floor. 

"well, now everyone will be coming over here now to check out the noise, better hurry!" seungmin smiled happily. 

felix sighed. "why'd you do that seungmin?"

"because now we're forced to leave. we cant be found with a broken lock and bent bars. just in case anyone was thinking of backing out."

"i don't think backing out was on anyone's mind, but okay." jisung mumbled. just then, a distant yell rang out and an alarm began to blare. 

"oh shit. hurry!" felix urged, looking to each of them. 

"welp. i call not going in first." jeongin said, peering into the dusty tunnel. "ill do it, since i alerted the guards." seungmin offered, cautiously fitting his head into the softly glowing hole in the ceiling. 

"its really cold in there. colder than the room." seungmin's voice echoed back." he slowly began to push himself up. "good news, it gets like 10 times wider! seungmin yelled back, this time halfway into the vent.

jisung watched, slightly nervous, as his new friend was swallowed by the strange tunnel that could possibly be his escape- or his death.
