LUNA'S POV
The Loud family awaits me and Sam as we enter the dining room. Leni perks up upon our arrival, and her mouth widens in a smile. "O-M-Gosh, is Luna joining us? And is that Sam?" Leni's outburst has everyone craning their heads to look at me. I squirm at the sudden attention, but Sam grips my hand tighter as a means of calming me. I relax in her embrace. "Yup, I'll be joining you guys today." I state, a little nervous. "Here." I guide Sam to the table and take a seat, her beside me. "Let me introduce you to the fam." Sam scans the table, eyes bright with excitement.
Starting at the head of the table, I gesture to Lori. "This is Lori, the oldest sibling," I state. Lori reaches a hand across the table for Sam to shake. Sam gladly accepts the offer. "It's nice to finally meet you, Sam. Your name has been brought up by Luna multiple times." Sam smiles shyly. "Really... I..." Her voice falters, and she turns to look at me. "I can't say that I haven't told my parents about you dozens of times too, Luna." I blush at Sam's statement, many questions formulating in my mind about Sam's family.
"How did you meet my sister?" Lori pipes up. Sam glances down, thinking thoughtfully. She returns her gaze to the table after a brief pause. "We're both part of the music club at school. Luna is an amazing addition to our group." Sam states. Evidently flattered, I rub my arm. "S-sam," I mumble, flustered. I nervously fiddle with the hem of my shirt.
"Well, can I just say that you two are totes cute for one another." Leni interjects, squealing excitedly. "I literally agree," Lori pipes up nonchalantly, as though this is common knowledge. A chorus of "true"s and "I agree"s fill the dining room. I can't hide my embarrassment and resort to fidgeting in my seat. "Luna, I sense that you are experiencing discomfiture," my younger sibling, Lisa, observes from the other end of the table. At just four years old, Lisa is by far the smartest in the family. Possibly one of the most intelligent individuals on this planet.
Taken aback, I shake my head. "Wha? No no, I'm fine... seriously." My face says otherwise, and my siblings know it. "I'm Lisa," my sister proclaims. "Practically one of the only sane members of this household." I feel the urge to contradict her statement, but the conversation is bouncing around the table so fast that I can barely keep track. From the other end of the table, Lola bangs her fists upon the furniture. "I beg to differ," she yells defiantly in Lisa's direction. Lana goes to interject, but only ends up shrugging her shoulders and pointing to her twin. "What she said," she states.
Trying desperately to keep up with the conversation, I gesture to Lola and Lana. "This is Lana and Lola," I state. "They're twins, but don't let that fool you; they are quite the opposite of one another." Excited, Lana--unaware--begins to ramble. "You bet we are! Ooh! Besides that, I gotta show you my mud pie collection and my pets! I'm sure you'd love Hops!" Upon taking into account Sam's confusion and--possible--intimidation, I place a hand on Lana's shoulder. "Relax dude. Besides, I don't think that's really Sam's thing." I'm aware that I shouldn't assume Sam's interests, but Sam seems to agree with me. She flashes Lana a reassuring, yet nervous, smile. She does not object to my statement, easing my conscience slightly. Evidently disappointed, Lana slumps in her seat. "It was worth a shot," she grumbles.
"What kinds of things do you like to do?" A voice asks. A young, 11-year-old boy wearing an orange polo and sporting messy white hair smiles in Sam's direction. "I'm Lincoln, by the way." He offers a handshake, which Sam gladly accepts. The girl's eyes widen upon coming to a realization. "Are you the only boy in the family?" Sam asks. "Besides Dad or any of the household pets... yep." My younger brother replies. "Wow," Sam breathes, evidently dumbfounded. "That's crazy! What's it like?" She questions excitedly. Lincoln shrugs, struggling to adequately put his thoughts into words. "It's a little hectic, but I love all ten of my sisters, regardless of how crazy it can get sometimes." Lincoln chuckles nervously at the memories that his words provoke. Sam releases that beautiful laugh of hers. "Aw, that's so sweet. Your siblings are really lucky to have a bro like you." Flustered by Sam's words, Lincoln stutters faintly. "T-thanks." He murmurs. I smile. I couldn't disagree per say, and Lincoln stated exactly how I felt. Sure, having siblings can be a pain, no matter how many, but Lincoln is a great little bro.
