It had been two days since Elizabeth had gotten the note from Steve-O and despite the fact she had no desire to call him, something was stopping her from throwing it away.
"You ready?" Her room-mate David asked, walking into her room.
"You're supposed to knock you freak." Elizabeth smiled, putting her earrings in. "Let's go then. I'm starving."
"Bagsy not driving!"
"Oh my god you do this every time! I hate driving!" Elizabeth moaned, following him to the car. Ava was out late, preparing for her art exhibition so Elizabeth and David were going out to eat. "Where should we go?" She asked, fastening her seat belt. "I'm feeling Mexican."
"As long as you pay, I don't mind." David laughed. Elizabeth rolled her eyes.
"Crazy to think we've been friends since we were twelve. It's been a long eleven years."
David hummed in agreement. "Crazy to think me and Ava have been together for seven of those years." Elizabeth smiled, it had been her who had introduced them to one another. "And then there's you, you old maid."
Elizabeth gasped, smacking his arm. "You are the worst! My love life is nothing to be made fun of."
"I'm kidding!" He yelled, holding onto his arm. "It is sad though, seeing you all alone when me and Ava are so clearly in love." He sighed dramatically, ruffling her hair. "I'm sure someone someday will be able to love you."
"I'm driving you git, piss off." Elizabeth laughed.

Half an hour later, Elizabeth pulled up into the car park of a random Mexican restaurant that David had picked.
"Even the car park smells good!" Elizabeth said excitedly as she locked her car. David held his arm out and Elizabeth took it. "Mexican food always takes me back."
"To the time you got so fucked up on tequila we all thought you were gonna die?" David asked innocently.
"Shut up." Elizabeth said, pushing him with her hip.
They walked into the restaurant and were immediately seated. They had been put in a booth in the corner and Elizabeth was the only person visible from the entrance.
"I apologize for any disturbance the gentlemen at the bar might cause," The waitress said, handing them menu.
Elizabeth craned her neck and could see a few cameras littered about. "What are they doing?"
"I'm not really sure, I just know they're filming and they might be a bit noisy." She smiled apologetically.
Elizabeth smiled back. "It's fine, we probably won't even notice."
"Can we have two margaritas please." David said, whilst checking out the food. The waitress nodded and walked.
"David I'm supposed to be driving!" Elizabeth said, whilst opening her own menu.
"Oh live a little, one drink won't hurt. I think I'll get the triple cheese quesadilla, and asparagus."
Looking through the menu, her mouth began watering. "I'm just gonna get a vegetable burrito."
The waitress returned with their drinks and their orders were placed. Sipping on their margaritas, the pair fell into a comfortable silence. From her seat, Elizabeth could watch the rest of the restaurant which was mainly made up of other couples. She watched a few people and she had the nagging suspicion that a few of the men at the bar were familiar to her but she ignored it. Though David had been joking earlier, he was kinda right. Elizabeth really did have a hard time with relationships. Her job was emotionally and physically demanding and she just didn't have the time for another person. Instead she had random one night stands which left her feeling worse.
"It's funny," David said, interrupting her daydream. "I used to be so sure I was in love with you." He smiled wistfully. "Even when you set me up with Ava I still hoped there was a chance for us."The waitress came back with their food.
"You've never told me this before."
David shrugged, his cheeks going pink. "It was stupid, we were just kids. But I felt I had to get that off my chest before I showed you this." He smiled before pulling out a small, velvet box out of his coat pocket. Elizabeth stared at it in shock, not sure what to say. "Say something, you're making me feel like a twat."
"I," She was lost for words. "You're proposing to Ava?" She asked and he nodded. Elizabeth felt herself get teary. "Oh David, I'm so happy for you." She cried, leaning over to squeeze his hand. "But are you sure? You're both still so young."
"I know but I also know that she's the one."
"Let me see it then!" Elizabeth grinned, wiping her eyes. David opened the box and showed her. It was a dainty ring, with blue and white diamonds. "Oh it's beautiful. Ava's going to love this."
David sipped his drink, "I'm not exactly sure when or how I'm going to propose but I know I want to do it soon."
Elizabeth smiled and held onto his hand. "You have time." Feeling eyes on her, she looked to the bar. Oh no. Elizabeth though, her face draining of colour. It was the men from the supermarket.
"Everything OK? You look like you've just seen a ghost?" David asked, putting his hand on her forehead. Elizabeth was still staring at the men at the bar.
"Remember that guy I was telling you about? The one covered in milk?"
"Oh yeah, the guy that was hitting on you."
"Well his friends are at the bar, and they're staring at me."
David snorted, standing slightly to see them. He gave them a little wave.
"David!" Elizabeth cried, kicking him under the table. "I never called him, don't wave at them!"
"Relax, it looks like he's not here." He grinned sitting down. "Ava's gonna wish she was here." Elizabeth groaned, placing her hand on her forehead.
"Can we go? I'm not hungry any more."
"But you've only eaten half of your food?" David said incredulously.
"We're leaving." Elizabeth said, not waiting for him as she hurried out the restaurant. She ignored him as he complained about having to pay for the bill. For once Elizabeth was forced to regret wearing heels, they made her look good but her feet were burning by the time she had gotten to her car.
David came out a few minutes later, strolling over to her with a shit eating grin.
"Why are you so happy?"
"I gave them your number." He said, getting into the car.
"You what?!"
"Yeah, I started chatting to them. Turns out that guy, Steve-O I think it was, is pretty upset you never phoned him so I told his friends to tell him to phone you."
Elizabeth stared at him in disbelief, cheeks turning red. "David Riley Taylor you had no right!" She seethed.
"So sue me." He shrugged, turning the radio on. "You'll thank me though, I was told he was really into you."
