Chapter 15

         The gathering was today, and it worried Shellstar. The Driftclan leader hasn't spoken to the Vertexclan leader Birdstar in a very long while. Shellstar knows Birdstar is always trying to improve his clan and stronger than him, but Shellstar doesn't mind it at all. He only worries because there have been scents of Vertexclan cats around the Driftclan territory, especially Birdstar's scent.

"Hey, Shellstar, can I come in?" Featherdrip, the Driftclan deputy, peeked her head in.

"Sure."

Featherdrip padded in. "I'm here to speak to you about Birdstar." she meowed.

"What about him?"

"I'm worried about how our clan will interact with his." she said and lashed her tail.

"I'm sure everything will be fine. Don't be so worrisome, Featherdrip." he meowed back and smiled.

"Okay, I guess... Well, I'll start getting our clan together." Featherdrip mewed to her leader.

"Sounds good." Shellstar replied, and Featherdrip left his den.

A few heartbeats later, Shellstar got up himself and padded out of his den. He watched as Featherdrip went around the camp and asked every cat if they were going or not. From what it looked like so far, every cat was going. Because of both clans not having a gathering for so many moons. All of Driftclan were close to the entrance, ready to go when their leader is. So Shellstar padded on over to the group of cats and went in front of the crowd.

"My fellow clanmates, we haven't had a gathering in a very long time. This will be a first for some of you, but for others, a second time. So be good during it and keep in mind that Vertexclan has a few members," He meowed to his clan.

Driftclan rejoiced in happiness.

"Let's get going then," Shellstar said and headed out with his clan right behind him.

     Birdstar's only concerns right now were about the gathering and his goatweed farm. The Vertexclan leader doesn't know what has him so hooked on the plant, but every time he eats it, he feels so much better about everything. Birdstar grabbed some goatweed from behind his tail with his maw and ate it.

I already feel great! He thought, then purred to himself. Birdstar wasn't worried about getting the clan ready for the gathering, because he knew Skybelly was already doing it.

Because Skybelly is just persistent like that.

Birdstar waited for a little while before he got up and padded out of his den. He saw his clan gathered at the entrance. Skybelly was looking straight at him with a smile.

Guess every cat is ready then. He padded over to his clanmates and stood in front of them.

"Vertexclan. It has been many moons since the last gathering, let's not let Driftclan frighten us in any way!" The leader yelled.

The clan cheered. Besides Shredpaw, Blacksting, Dustshine, and Nova.

"Let's go." Birdstar meowed then flicked his tail, signaling for his clan to follow him, which they did as he padded away from Vertexclan territory.

       Driftclan was the first to arrive at where the gathering held a place at. Shellstar and Birdstar agreed that the gathering would be at the giant flat stone near the Ocean Side. Shellstar hopped onto the stone and sat there in front of his clan, then Featherdrip sat on the side of the stone.

"There they are!" A cat from Driftclan yelled from the crowd. There on the side, padding down the sand, was Birdstar, along with the rest of Vertexclan. The clan that lived on a tiny hill-mountain finally arrived at the Ocean Side.
