Chapter 30

Shredflash doesn't know where he ran, all he knows is that he ran away from Vertexclan. He's already told himself that he's never going back because if he did, they would either kill him or just exile him from being there. Shredflash stopped and hid in a bush to catch his breath. He had run very far away. "What are we going to do now, Shred?" Shredflash meowed, still panting.

We survive out here in the wild until we make our next move, friend! Shred replied in a happier and more friendly tone. When Shredflash was in Vertexclan, Shred had a dark and low tone to him, but now it sounds friendly.

"And what is that next move?" He replied to him.

You'll find out when the time comes! Shred giggled, and it echoed in Shredflash's head.

"Okay, I guess... For now, we need to find prey so we can live. Hopefully, there is prey around here..." Shredflash meowed as he jumped out of the bush he was hiding behind. His unfamiliar task for himself was to survive out here.

It's been what has felt like a few sunrises, and Shredflash has caught no prey. He was starving, and his movements have gotten very slow. Shredflash was never taught how to hunt properly as an apprentice, Blacksting only put him through pain and torture. He fell to the ground as he heard his stomach growl.

"I can't die out here... Not like this..." He meowed softly.

Shredflash saw a set of paws pad up to him. They were black. He slowly looked up to see the face of a black she-cat with violet-blue eyes hold a piece of prey in her jaws. "Look at you, you poor thing! Eat this." She meowed and dropped what looked like a squirrel.

Shredflash moved enough to take a bite out of it and sat up a little as he ate it. "T-Thank you." He meowed through a mouthful.

The she-cat giggled. "Yep! I can take you back to where I live until you are ready to go back home!" She insisted.

"Sure, but I don't have a home..." Shredflash said.

The black she-cat gasped. "Really?!"

Shredflash nodded.

"Well, if you'd like, you can stay with me!" She meowed.

Shredflash had to think for a moment. He didn't even know her name yet!

"Oh, my name is Eclipse!" she added.

"I'm Shredflash." he replied, swallowing the rest of what was in his maw.

"Shredflash, huh? Your name is very interesting!" Eclipse meowed.

You might as well stay with her, Shredflash! Maybe you two can be mates, even!

Shredflash blushed and smiled at Eclipse. "I'll stay with you."

Eclipse smiled back. "You will? That's great! I'll show you the way there."

Shredflash got up and followed Eclipse as they headed away from the spot they met at.
