Nick was awakened by his phone ringing loudly. Someone apparently had the great idea to call a teenager at ten am on a Sunday morning, which might not be as great as it sounds - damn you if it sounds nice to you.
The boy groaned, and tried to hit his phone with his hand. But since he didn't need to wake up at a certain time on Sundays, his phone lied on his desk, far out of reach from his position.
He moved around, trying to reduce the sound reaching his ears, because he wanted to continue to sleep. He might not have known the exact time, but he knew that it was way too early for that obnoxious music to ring through his whole room.
Still trying to find a nice place to put his head, he accidentally hit the wall - in his sleepy state he had forgotten that the bed was barely longer than he was tall - and let out a painful cry. What did he do to deserve this?
His phone continued to ring.
He slowly sat up, looking around the room. Spotting this object all his hatred that moment was directed at, he stood up making his way over to the desk.
He eyed the phone carefully - what kind of monster would call so early? His clock said it was only shortly after ten, in the morning.
Jamie.
What did go on in that mind of his best friend that made it seem acceptable to call before twelve? A sigh escaped his lips as he decided answering would be the best idea - he wouldn't be able to sleep after that much noise anyway.
"What the fuck do you want, Jamie?"
Jamie gulped. That didn't sound as if Nick was especially keen on talking with him that moment. "I'm sorry, did I wake you up?"
Nicklas scoffed at that. "What do you think? This better be worth the sleep I've lost."
"I actually just wanted to talk to you. . ."
"At ten am.", he answered, unbelieving of what he was hearing.
"Sorry?", Jamie said, it sounded almost like a question.
Nick sighed again, before asking, "I'm awake now, anyway. What do you want to talk about?"
He went over to his bed, and sat on it. This wasn't exactly how he liked his Sunday mornings, but that didn't really matter now, did it?
"Well. . .", Jamie started, "Stella and me were hanging out together yesterday. She's, like, the cutest girl ever."
Nick already prepared himself for having to listen to Jamie's gushing about his girlfriend. Great.
"She still refuses to take off the necklace I got her, even for sleeping! How cute even is that? And she looks so precious when she sleeps. I honestly don't know how I got so lucky, man."
Nick shook his head, his best friend was way too much in love. "You two are literally made for each other. I think she feels pretty lucky to have you, too."
Honestly, in a way he was jealous of Jamie. And it wasn't just that his best friend was in a relationship, it was the fact that he didn't even have the opportunity to make these kinds of experiences.
He could hear Jamie chuckle. "Thanks, dude. Anyway, my parents actually invited her to stay for dinner. It makes me so happy to see her and my family get along so well."
Ah, yes, Jamie's family got along greatly with Jamie's girlfriend. Not that anything remotely similar could ever happen to Nick.
He hated it.
"And they allowed her to stay over! She's still sleeping, and I swear she looks so beautiful.", Jamie continued talking with that certain tone, that tone he only had when talking about his girlfriend.
