It's the night of April 11th. Taehyung and his roommate Hoseok are out clubbing with Seokjin and Taehyung has never been in a more uncomfortable environment.

There are at least a hundred people crowded on the dance floor sweating and dancing, yelling drunkenly over the music and causing even more commotion in the overheated building.

Hoseok easily finds his way into Seokjin's group of friends, they love him.

Taehyung feels awkward as they drink and laugh with each other. Seokjin seems to like Hoseok more than him.

"Here, Taehyung watch our drinks." Seokjin says, before he and his friends take Hoseok to the dance floor. "We'll be right back, I swear."

Taehyung looks around the club and wonders if he'd ever be able to find pleasure in this kind of atmosphere.

Was it normal to want to be surrounded by this many strangers getting drunk in such an uncertain place?

Instead of staying and feeling sorry for himself he decides to leave, Seokjin and his friends can get new drinks—he can't buy back the last hour of his life.

He leaves the club and starts walking back towards campus when he sees a familiar face. A face that he hasn't seen in days.

Jeongguk paces a few feet from the door holding his phone to his ear, he wipes his eyes as if to wipe away tears that Taehyung can't see from where he stands.

"Jimin, please just~" The brunette's words come out strained and Taehyung's sure he's crying now. "You can't just leave me here. It's not fair."

Taehyung turns away to continue walking but the hurt laced throughout Jeongguk's words stop him.

"Don't hang up, Jimin. You can't do this~ hello?" Jeongguk pulls the phone from his ear and looks down at the screen. "Damnit."

The brunette looks up and his eyes seem to connect with Taehyung's immediately, making him turn away quickly.

"Hey," He says before Taehyung can escape. "Y-You're the guy from the library, right?"

Taehyung turns to face him. "Um, yeah. Sorry I didn't mean to stare I just saw that you were upset and~"

"No, it's fine," Jeongguk says, shaking his head and wiping away the remainder of his tears.

"Are you alright?" Taehyung asks, he didn't want to invade Jeongguk's privacy but he was concerned.

"No, actually." The brunette chuckles. "I'm Jeongguk by the way, I don't think we ever introduced ourselves properly."

"I'm Taehyung." He smiles. "It's strange that we've sat across from each other all this time and we're only introducing ourselves now."

"I wanted to do it sooner but I promised my boyfriend I wouldn't talk to you," Jeongguk explains, his expression changing to one of more hurt. "He's weird about me talking to other guys."

"Your boyfriend is the guy that came to the library that one time?" Taehyung asks, he remembers the way Jimin spoke to him that day and it makes him feel bad.

"Yeah, he's an asshole," Jeongguk says looking down at his phone again, his expression contradicting his annoyed tone.

"Are you guys in a fight tonight?" Taehyung asks, making Jeongguk look up at him with teary eyes.

"He left me here." He says rolling his eyes, a humorless laugh leaving his lips. "I don't even know what I did to upset him and he just...left."

"I'm sorry he did that to you. Do you need me to take you home?" Taehyung asks.

"I wouldn't want to put you out of your way~"

"I don't mind honestly, I was just leaving anyway," Taehyung says. "Where do you live?"

"It's off campus," Jeongguk says. "You really don't have to, Taehyung. I can wait for him to come back."

"It's fine, my car's there," Taehyung says gesturing to his car. "Come on, I'll take you."

Jeongguk sighs. "Thank you. It means a lot to me."

Jeongguk's words make Taehyung smile as he leads the way to the car that Seokjin's father had gotten him.

"So, what year are you?" Jeongguk asks after giving Taehyung his address.

"Three," Taehyung answers as he looks at the directions on the gps. "You?"

"Two." The brunette answers. "I never saw you around before, you must not get out much."

"Well, I'm a bit antisocial I'll admit." The older chuckles. "I never saw you around until recently either."

"Yeah, that's Jimin's fault." Jeongguk answers the smile on his face fading as he looks down at his phone yet again.

"I'm sure you will work out whatever you're arguing over." Taehyung tries to reassure him.

"That's not what I'm worried over."  He looks out of the window. "I just...I hate my relationship right now."

"I'm sorry," The older says, mostly because he didn't know what else to say.

"Don't apologize. I don't know why I'm dumping all my problems on you." Jeongguk chuckles.

"I don't mind," Taehyung promises. "I'll listen if you want to talk."

Jeongguk smiles at Taehyung's words, his eyes are sad as he looks out the window of the car. "I think I'm afraid of him."

    "Jimin?"

    "Yes," He says. "It's stupid, I know~"

"It's not stupid," Taehyung says. "Why are you afraid?"

"I don't know. He's so strict with everything, even me. So much so that it scares me sometimes," Jeongguk says. "He wants me to be perfect, all the time, no matter what. My hair, my clothes, my body, everything. And if something isn't exactly how he thinks it should be he takes it out on me."

"Takes it out on you?" Taehyung asks cautiously, he didn't want to assume anything, but judging by the way Jeongguk's eyes well with tears he's not wrong in his assumptions.

"I'm sorry." Jeongguk dries his eyes. "I didn't mean to say anything."

"Don't be sorry. You shouldn't stay with him if he's hurting you,"  The older says, he wanted to help but he didn't know how. "How could I help you?"

"You can't. You can't help me, Taehyung," He says, looking over at him. "I don't want you to get hurt because of me, you don't even know me."

"I don't need to know a person to want to help them out of trouble do I?" Taehyung asks.

"I'm not in trouble, I put myself here," He says. "I knew how Jimin was from the beginning and I still wanted to be with him. It's my fault."

Taehyung stays silent, he truly was at a loss for words.

"He's not like this all the time. He's a nice guy once you get to really know him," Jeongguk says, he sounds like he's trying to convince himself that his situation wasn't as bad as he made it seem.

"As long as you're happy," Taehyung decides to say after another moment.

"Yeah," Jeongguk says with a forced laugh before focusing his eyes straight forward. "I'm happy."

When Taehyung gets closer to Jeongguk's apartment complex the younger asks him to stop a block down, so Jimin wouldn't see them if he was watching.

Jeongguk thanks Taehyung multiple times before climbing out of the car.

Taehyung sighs as he watches the brunette walk away, he felt sorry for him.

Jeongguk may have been able to convince himself that he was happy, but he couldn't convince Taehyung.
