Taehyung stands in the mirror, glaring at his body in disappointment. He hates the way he looks.

He was never truly conscious of his body image until Jeongguk made him realize that he needed a lot of work.

Today was his second day restricting and he felt like he would never lose weight.

His phone vibrates against the counter and he groans when he sees his step father's name.

"Yes?" He answers as he starts styling his hair.

"Good afternoon, Taehyung," He says through the speaker. "How are you?"

"I'm alright. Do you need something?" Taehyung asks, carefully parting his hair and combing it away from his face.

His step dad chuckles. "I see you're as enthusiastic as ever this afternoon."

"I've got somewhere to be in a few minutes so whatever it is, can it wait?" He asks, tucking his hair neatly behind his ear.

"I'm calling because you haven't spoken to your mother in a week and she's worried about you. I'm worried about you too. You usually call her often."

Taehyung rolls his eyes, yeah right he was worried. "I'm fine. I've been busy going to class and getting my work done. That's all."

"Are you sure? Seokjin says he hasn't seen much of you in the past couple of weeks."

"Well, Seokjin and I aren't exactly the best of friends, so that shouldn't surprise you." He touches up his eye makeup before getting ready to head out. "I actually have to go."

"Alright, son," Mr. Kim says. "Call your mother when you get the chance."

"Yeah." He takes the phone from his ear and ends the call, sighing as he grabs his keys and leaves the apartment.

He was nervous to see Jeongguk today after he got so upset with him the other night, he never expected that from him.

When he gets to the library he finds the brunette sitting in their usual spot, earbuds in his ears as types away on his laptop.

Taehyung deflates a bit when he sees the earbuds, was he still angry?

Jeongguk looks up when he sees Taehyung approach, sitting up straighter and pulling the earbuds out with a small smile.

"Hey," He says as Taehyung sits down. "I didn't think you'd come."

    "Why wouldn't I?" Taehyung asks.

Jeongguk shrugs, looking down at his hands. "I thought you were still upset."

"I'm not upset," Taehyung says, offering a small smile.

"Okay." The younger says looking up at him with a smile. "You look great today, by the way. And I'm sorry I got upset, but it's for your own good. You asked me to make you perfect. If I didn't have Jimin there to constantly scold me I'd still be just like you."

Jeongguk words hurt, they make Taehyung realize that Jeongguk saw being "just like him" as a bad thing.

"What's wrong? You look upset." Jeongguk says after noticing the way Taehyung's expression changed.

"Nothing," He says, shaking his head dismissively.

    "Are you sure, beautiful?"

Taehyung sighs softly and looks down at his books. "You said that being the best you and being perfect were the same thing."

    "They are."

"What if the best me isn't thin with clear skin and shiny hair?"

"You're only saying that because you're afraid to push yourself." He shrugs nonchalantly. "You have potential to be better than me and maybe even Jimin. You said that's what you wanted."

"I know what I said." Taehyung grabs a pen and starts writing his notes. "I don't want that to come between us. Being perfect isn't worth losing you."

"You won't lose me. I'm not going anywhere," Jeongguk promises. "And it won't come between us."

"It came between you and Jimin."

Jeongguk's lips press together in a firm line, his expression annoyed. "That's different. You know that, Taehyung. Jimin's always had bad intentions, I don't have bad intentions. I only want to help."

    "I know~"

"I can't believe you'd even compare me to Jimin. Because I got a little upset yesterday? I'm sorry, alright? But I'm not even half as bad as Jimin~"

"I know, Jeongguk. I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to compare you to him," Taehyung says. "Let's just drop it."

"Whatever you want," Jeongguk says, returning to his work, putting his earbuds back in his ears as he does so.

Taehyung sighs before focusing on his notes, he didn't want to argue with Jeongguk, but he was afraid of disappointing him.

After a while Jeongguk packs his things to leave, he usually never leaves first so it's a surprise to Taehyung.

"You're leaving?" He asks, looking up at him.

"Jimin's second class got cancelled, he'll want me to be home before him."

"Will you be here tomorrow?" Taehyung asks, trying to show him that he wasn't upset.

"Yeah, it's on my schedule to study every day, so," Jeongguk says shortly, slinging his bag over his shoulder.

"Okay. Well, text me if you get the chance?" Taehyung asks. "Maybe you could come over this weekend~"

"I'll text you." He says, pushing his chair in and leaving.

Taehyung sulks a bit when he's gone, gathering his things slowly.

"I thought I'd find you here."

    "What do you want, Seokjin?"

Seokjin chuckles as he takes the seat across from him. "I saw you sitting alone so I came over."

"I'm on my way out," Taehyung says. "What are you doing in the library after noon anyway?"

"Mom and dad may or may not have told me to check on you every once in a while," He says, rolling his eyes sarcastically. "So, what are you up to?"

"I'm leaving." He stands. "You don't have to check up on me, I'm not a child. I can handle myself."

"It seems like you're going through something, that's all," Seokjin says, following his step brother out of the library. "Mom's worried."

"Then tell her to stop worrying. I'm fine," Taehyung says, stopping abruptly and facing Seokjin. "Now stop following me and talking to me like you give a shit when I know you don't."

Seokjin looks at him shock, his eyes widening. "Tae, I was just~"

"I don't care. Leave me alone." He turns away and storms out of the library.

He was tired of his family feeling sorry for him and treating him like a child. He didn't need them checking up on him and he didn't need them to worry.

He liked being on his own, he'd rather be alone.
