Chapter 26 : Regret

The two men were sitting on the couch. It was such an awkward situation for both of them. " Er.. so how are you, Pete ?" Eugene asked his brother. It had been so long they talked to each other. " I'm good. You ?" Pete responded. Eugene nodded slowly to the question. " What brings you here ?" Eugene straight up questioned his older brother. Pete also didn't want to beat around the bush.

" What happened between you and Aaron ?" Pete asked boldly to his little brother. Eugene's heart beats were getting faster. His breaths were short and fast. " er.. We.. Er.. We broke up," Eugene stammered. He knew it was his bad that he didn't listen to Aaron before he decided to break up. " Eugene.. You are being stubborn again.. Can you stop and listen to someone's explanation before you make an action ?" Pete told the young man.

Eugene looked down. Pete sighed. " I've met Aaron few days ago. Do you know what happened to him after you dumped him ?" Pete wanted to tell Eugene about Aaron's condition. Pete looked up to Pete's face as soon as he heard Aaron's name. He was waiting for Pete to say what happened. " He rented an unit apartment because he couldn't moved back in the campus hostel. He has to work every other day to earn money to pay for his rent. He is still in grief of the break up," Pete told him the truth.

A huge slap of guilt on Eugene's face as he was imagining how hard it was for Aaron after the break up. He was the one to blame. " Eugene, if you don't love him, don't hold him like a hostage. He's a man. He has feelings and you know that," Pete advised him. Pete was trying to open Eugene's eyes about the things he didn't noticed on Aaron.

" Don't let the break up be the last moments you had with him," Pete said slowly to Eugene. That made Eugene anxious. " What do you mean ?!" Eugene was puzzled by Pete's words. Pete just sighed. He patted Eugene's back. The worst thing that would happen came across to Eugene's mind. Suicide. Words are sharper than any swords in this world. " Tell me where his apartment is ! I need to talk to him, please !" Eugene begged his brother. Pete shook his head and got up.

" So that's how you contruct a Lewis structure with different priority. That's it for today, class. See you all tomorrow," the lady dismissed the class. All of the students started to head out of the class. Zed was putting his note books in his bag when his phone got a notification. He looked at his phone.

Aaron : How's the class ? Any assignment to submit ?
Zed : Nope, she taught new topic. I will give you the notes later on.
Aaron : Thanks Zed. Sorry for burdening you.
Zed : No problem.. I'm glad to help you.
Aaron : Zed.. Thank you for everything..
Zed : I told you it's my pleasure to help. [Read]

Zed was kinda weird to see Aaron's chat. " Why would he said thank you twice ?" Zed asked himself. He sighed and put his phone into his pocket. " Babe ? Are you okay ?" Tommy suddenly appeared at the door of the class. Zed looked at Tommy and walked towards him. " I don't know babe, I just felt something is wrong with Aaron," Zed told his man about his uneasy feeling.

" Did he thanked you many times ?" Tommy asked as if he knew what was the conversation between Aaron and Zed. "Wait.. How did you know ?" Zed asked Tommy with his puzzled face. Tommy took out his phone and clicked on the chat bar between him and Aaron. He showed it to Zed. " He did the same thing to me.." Tommy said slowly.

" Zed !" a familiar voice called out Zed's name from the end of the hallway. The couple was standing outside the class. Both of them turned their head towards the call. Eugene was running towards them. When he was close to the couple he stoped. He was gasping for air as the sweat was dripping off him. " Is Aaron here  ? " the man asked while he was still panting to catch his breath.

"No.. He didn't attend the class today.. " Zed replied. He didn't know what was the reason Aaron didn't attend the class. " But you know where he lives right ? Please tell me..." Eugene begged like he was begging for his life. Tommy and Zed looked at each other. They were not sure whether to give Eugene the information or not. " Please Zed.. Tell me .. Tommy ? Please.. I beg you two.." Eugene begged the couple. " Okay.. I'll send you his address.." Zed felt bad for Eugene and he wanted to make sure Aaron was okay so he gave the address to Eugene. " Thank you ..." Eugene thanked the two and he ran off.
