Dean finished packing up his backpack as he asked Cas, "Ready to go? We might be a bit late for class today. Okay truthfully, there's no way in hell we'll make it to class at all."
"Was this a date?" the words just slipped out of Cas' mouth.
"It can be anything you want it to be."
"That's not an answer."
Dean didn't know what to say as he didn't know himself. Cas jumped back in, "do you have a crush on me?"
Dean froze again, unsure of what to say. Eventually he managed to mutter, "I don't want to put a label for us hanging out. It's just me doing something special for you and that's what matters. To me it was a date yet it wasn't. That's the truth. On the crush thing, can I ask where you got that idea from?"
"Charlie."
"Of course she'd say that."
"What do you mean?"
"It's not important," Dean stepped closer to Castiel, placing his hand on his shoulder, "I had a lot of fun with you and I hope we can do this again. I apologize for sending confusing messages."
"It's okay. And I'd love to do this again, date or not." Dean smiled before hugging him.
"Let's go home," Dean boomed, escorting his friend out.
