Sam headed to Santa Monica Pier in his brother's car. He ended up having to pay a shit ton for parking in a lot not even nearby. It was all worth it though because he'll get to find Gabe.
The pier was overly crowded. There were people vlogging, taking pictures, obnoxiously long lines for overpriced food, and couples waiting in line for the ferris wheel.
Sam spotted Gabe by one of the railings overlooking the water. The sunset reflected beautiful rays of orange, yellow, and pink on the calm ocean. Sam took note of this being a perfect date spot as he approached his friend, "Gabe?"
Gabriel turned around smiling, pink cotton candy in his hand, "Why hiya, Sammy. What brings you here?"
Sam was confused, "I'm here to check on you. You kinda ran off after you kissed me."
"Oh, you're still going on about that kiss? It was nothing. We're even. You kissed me and I kissed you."
Sam couldn't help but feel hurt at those words. Charlie made it seem like Gabriel likes him but he just called the kiss nothing. It was something to Sam and he hoped it meant something to Gabe," But Gabe I lo-"
"Sam, put the kiss in the past, okay? That's what I want. I just want things to return to normal between us."
Sam tried to hide away the hurt in his voice, "Yea, that's fine." He didn't want things to return to normal. He wanted Gabriel. He doesn't know how long he can go pretending he isn't madly in love with the guy standing before him but has to try to hide it, for Gabriel. Charlie said to do what he wants after all. "Wanna watch the sunset with me?" Gabe asked, taking a bite of cotton candy. Sam nodded, coming closer and wrapping his arm around the other's back. This was a normal action for him so Gabe can't say anything about it. Gabriel leaned in closer to Sam and they both admired the stunning sunset. Gabe was smiling but Sam was fighting back tears.
