(A/N: Chapter 5? I think that's right. If it's not then oops. Ok I'm going stop procrastinating, and actually make this chapter longer, hopefully. If it's not then please feel free to yell at me. Ok bye :)
It's been almost an entire day since the girls had started on their quest. They were very far away from the city borders, and closer to their friend. Hopefully. They were nearing the mountains when they reached a cave looking hole.
"A SNAKE!"
"Cam, that's a leaf," Lily said with a deadpan look on her face.
"A LEAF THAT LOOKS LIKE A SNAKE! AAAAAAAAH"
"How did we end up in this situation again?"
"I dunno. We just did"
"Got it thanks"
"No prob."
"Do we, uh, go down there."
"I guess. Can I have one of the flashlights?"
"Here ya go." Lily handed her a flashlight and turned her own on. She slowly inched her way into the dark void in front of her. This is where their adventure actually started. They were worried before, but now is where it got real. The girls slowly started walking into the cave-like tunnel and held their breaths. Cam immediately grabbed Lily's hand, which shocked her. Cam was always thought to be the brave one, but now all of that was thrown out the door. The girls were scared out of their minds. Cam didn't even think to grab Lily's hand. It just happened. It was almost like instinct. Lily interlaced their fingers as they moved along. This made both girls feel slightly safer. Knowing there was something familiar made it seem slightly less scary. It was still frightening them out of their minds, but there was nothing they could do about it. Soon, they stumbled upon more tunnels that all snakes off into different directions.
"Eeny Meeny Miny Mo, Catch a tiger by his toe. If he hollers let h-" Cam started to count between the tunnels.
"What the heck are you doing," Lily asked with annoyance in her voice
"Deciding which tunnel to take."
"Ok. Ya. Lets just completely disregard the magical necklace we have that will point us in the right direction."
"Ooooooh right"
"Oh my god. How are you passing all your classes?"
"Pure luck and probably way more sugar than what's good for you."
"That was a rhetorical question."
"I know. Are we going to follow the damn necklace or not."
"Now you want to listen to me?"
"Yes."
Lily rolled her eyes at this last response. The necklace pointed to the second tunnel to the left.
"I guess it's that way then." Lily pointed out.
"I guess it is."
This was another one of those moments that made it feel like it was all real. Yes, they knew what they were doing, but sometimes they thought this was a dream. But, making these decisions made it all feel real and scary. They were just kids. Young for their grade, both had turned 16 only a couple of months ago. Now they were inside of a cave searching for their friend who could very well be dead by now. This thought scared both of them. But they couldn't be scared. Not when their lives also depended on it.
"What if Ollie's already dead." The fear in Lily's voice when she said this filled the whole cave. It gave Cam chills. For she knew that it could actually be true right now. She knew, also, that their efforts could all be for nothing. But they couldn't think that. Not when their own lives were also in danger.
