(A/N: Ok so it seems like the first chapter went fairly well. If you have any more feedback though, feel free to comment on them. Ok again try to enjoy this chapter.)
It had been almost a week since Ollie went away for her "family business". Cam and Lily were getting worried. Ollie had never missed that many days of school in a row in her whole life. Cam suggested that she was sick and she was just staying home because
"That the courteous thing to do" Cam said.
"Whatever. Maybe we should drop off her books at her house. Shell probably be needing them." Lily said in reply
"Wouldn't she have texted us though?"
"Maybe. But she might just not want to talk right now."
"Maybe" Cam headed over to Ollie's locker. Something good about being someone's best friend is that you know their locker code. Cam opened it on the first try. Something immediately caught her eye. There was a faint purple light illuminating from the back of her small locker. Inside her friend's pencil case was something glowing and rattling. Cam immediately grabbed the case and opened it up. Inside was a necklace with a gem on the end. The gem was attached with wire and was very pretty. "Uh hey lils."
"Hmm." She said looking up from her phone.
"Come look at this"
Lily walked over to Ollie's locker and look at what was in the other girl's hand. She had seen it before. She recognized it from something.
"I've seen that! Her mom gave it to her before she, uh, y' know, left."
Ollie's parents didn't get along very well when they were married. Her mom left just after she had turned 9.
"She got it as a present that year you couldn't come because you were like sick or something."
"Oh ya. But why is it shaking?"
"It looks like its pointing somewhere."
The girls spun around until the necklace was pointing straight ahead.
"Do we follow it?" Lily said with a concerned look that she wasn't even trying to hide
"I don't know. Can we at least wait until we've had lunch? I get cranky if I haven't eaten."
"Ok fine."
Time Skip-after lunch
"Ok so come to my house at 4:30 so we can figure this out. Take Ollie's pencil case also. We never know what else might be in there. Also, you can't say anything about this to anyone. Got it?" Lily ran over the plan one more time
"I got it. I will be very subtle. No one will ever know."
"Oh please. You are the least subtle person I know. Your "I have a secret" vibe is visible from the moon."
"Then why don't you take it?"
"Because the choir is not the place to have something glowing and vibrating in your pocket."
"Ok fine. But if anyone finds out then it's your fault."
"It's technically not but whatever. See you at 4:30."
"Ok. Bye"
Time skip-4:30, Lily's house
"Ok, look in the pencil case to see if there's anything else," Lily said instructing Cam as they went to her bedroom.
"Uh there's some candy wrappers, pencils, a marker, and a piece of paper."
"Does the paper say anything?"
"I don't know"
"Can you find out?"
"Sure" Cameron unfolded a piece of paper. She read out loud what it said inside. "Dearest Olivia. God who calls her that anymore."
"Shut up and keep reading."
"Fine. Dearest Olivia, Happy birthday. Encased is a necklace that could prove very useful in the future. Keep it near you at all times. There is another necklace in there also. You must keep that one near at least one person you can trust. Where these necklaces are could mean life or death for you. Follow those rules and you may get to live another day. Stay safe, Mom. Well that's harsh. Are you sure she got this when she was 9?"
"Positive. She showed me both necklaces and that one was definitely one of them. You know that other necklace she wears all the time right. It looks similar to this."
"I mean I'm only ever vaguely aware of my surroundings at all times but yes, I do know what you're talking about."
"Ok. Faulty, but ok. Well this must be the other necklace from the present. But what is it pointing to? Should we find out?"
"Sure. It's pointing the general direction of the ice cream shop and I want ice cream so let's just go tell your dad were getting ice cream."
"Um maybe not our first priority right now but whatever we can go get ice cream after we figure out where this damn necklace is pointing to."
"But this might take ages."
"Then it will be a reward for us."
"Fine but you're buying."
"Ok whatever."
The girls walked down to the kitchen where Lily's dad was.
"Hey Mr. D" Cameron said greeting Lily's dad.
"Hey Cam"
"We're going to go out for ice cream," Lily told her dad before grabbing her bag off the couch.
"Ok, just be back before 7."
"Got it. See you."
"Bye girls"
Both girls headed out, following where the necklace was pointing. It seemed to be glowing and vibrating more than it had earlier in the day.
"Ok we have to find out where this is pointing and get ice cream all before 7," Cameron said listing the things off on her fingers.
"Ok, but if this goes off further than the edge of the city than we are not going. Also, we have 2 and a half hours, so we might be good on time."
Lily lived slightly closer to the border of the city than the other two girls did so she was used to getting back home from there. They started off on their quest right away. The necklace felt like it was vibrating more and more the closer they got to the edge. The girls kept walking though, paying close attention to the direction the necklace was pointing in. After about 30 minutes, they reached the road sign that signaled the cities endpoint. Cameron sighed and sat down on a bench nearby.
"Ok we're at the end. What do we do now?" She said
"Keep going?"
"We can't. We both have curfews."
"We can continue tomorrow."
"And say what to our parents? Hey I gotta skip school tomorrow because my friend went missing so I'm gonna go try to find her."
"Yes. Now do you want that ice cream or not?"
"You're impossible. Yes"
(A/N: Helloooooooo. So chapter two went well. I hope. The suspense is building up. I hope you liked this. If you did then comment that. I wanna hear what people have to say about this. Ok bye :)
