(A/N Ok so the last chapter wasn't an actual chapter. It was more like a thing to help people understand the characters a little more. Ok so another thing I wanted to address is the actual story coming to an end. I'm running out of ideas so I will have probably less than 5 chapters left to do. I will be doing a sequel though. I don't know when I will be starting that because I am also working on Twisted Time. I do have multiple ideas for stories so I want to do as many of those as I can. If there is anything that you want to see, then comment on them. Also I don't know what it does but please vote on this story. If someone could help me out and tell me what it does, then I would appreciate that a lot. Thank you and enjoy Chapter 9.)
Once the girls started heading off again, Lily's phone rang.
"Dammit," Lily said slinging her bag over her shoulder. She unzipped it and set it on the tunnel floor again. "I have like 20 missed calls from Jenny."
"Don't call her that. It humanizes her. Makes her sound nice." Cam said with a scowl on her face.
"Y'know she is a human," Lily said rezipping her bag and chuckling slightly.
"An evil one. Like Voldemort. Still slightly human, but wants to take over the world and everyone hates her."
Lily laughed again. She stopped, though, when an ear-piercing scream filled the tunnel.
"Ollie!" Both girls said at the same time and shot off like a bolt of lightning. Both were pretty fast. Cam had long legs and was on the track team. Lily was small and light and had 3 brothers who used to chase her a lot. They quickly reached the end of the tunnel and looked all around. More tunnels. Lily pulled out the necklace from her pocket and held up. It pointed straight ahead. They ran as fast as they could again until they reach an opening in the cave.
This cave was less of a cave than the others were. It was more of a hideout. It was a pretty cliche villain lair. It didn't have a moat of lava but it did have weapons lining the walls and even a small throne to one side of the room. Right in the middle you could see a small girl leaning against a wall. She had a look of pain on her face that was slowly going away as she drifted more and more into unconsciousness. Lily's eyes filled with tears as she saw her friend in this state. She had cuts all along her arms and one that went right through the middle of her face. Cam had no emotion in her face. She didn't want to see her best friend in this state but she couldn't tear her eyes away from her.
Ollie's face was hollow and it looked like she hadn't eaten in weeks. She looked very small slumped against the large wall. Lily ran over to her and Cam just stood there. She didn't know what to do. She was the one unconscious last time. Lily was the one who had to go through it alone. She immediately felt a pang of dept in her chest. She knew it was hard for Lily to be alone right now but now seeing her friend in the exact same state she had been in, she felt terrible. At least Cam had Lily there with her now. Lily had no one. Cam slowly walked over to Lily still in a daze. She put a hand on her shoulder and Lily whipped around to wrap herself around Cam. She broke down in her arms and just squeezed her tightly. Cam slowly wrapped her arms around Lily, not being able to snap out of it. She wanted to. To be there for Lily. She just couldn't. Lily understood this. Cam had never been one to really express her emotions very much so Lily didn't question it. She unwrapped herself from Cam and saw something changer in her eyes. Cam shook her head slightly and looked at Ollie on the ground. Her eyes changed from dazed, to hurt, to shook. The look on her face kept changing while a million thoughts went through her head. Silent tears escaped her eyes. The smaller girl wrapped her arms around her once again. This time Cam squeezed Lily as hard as she could, trying to get the pain to go away. She laid her head gently on Lily's. Lily could feel her shaking slightly and just squeezed her tighter. A couple of seconds later, Cam slowly unwrapped herself from the hug.
"How touching," A rough voice said from behind the girls. Their heads whipped around to meet the gaze of an older man. They both recognized him right away.
"Mr. Yates?" Cam said with confusion and anger in her voice. "WHAT THE HELL? YOUR OWN DAUGHTER. WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?"
"Cam," Lily said warning her friend. "Shut up or we'll both get killed."
"You should listen to Lily, Cam."
"Don't tell me what to do." Cam snapped at Mr. Yates.
"Cam," Lily said pleading with her. "Please stop."
"No Lily. This man is hurting our friend." Now there was no confusion or any sort of sympathy in her voice. It was all poison and anger. She had her fists clenched and if looks could kill, Mr. Yates would be dead.
"Cam just shut up or we're gonna end up like her." Lily gestured over to their slouched friend.
"Fine." She said finally giving in. "What do you even want with her? Or us?" Cam said, turning her attention back to the man.
"What do you think I want? Not that child. I always wanted a son. Someone to carry on the family name. But I ended up with that disgrace. And she just got worse. She ended up just like her mom. A freak of nature. Setting things on fire. Then on one of her birthdays, her mom started to encourage it. She gave her some magic crap. I told her not to encourage it and she got mad. She said that if she had that 'talent.'" He put air quotes around the word talent, as to make it a bad word. "We should encourage it. I told her that it was absolutely absurd. We should hide it. Not draw attention to herself. She got mad and left. She told me to do whatever I wanted. So I did. I hid that part of her away so she almost forgot about it. I thought that if I got rid of her, the magic would go away also. So I told her we had to go to a family outing somewhere. Little did I know she told you two brats also. So when she was gone for a longer time, you two decided to stick you pretty little noses into it."
"Thanks for the compliment Mr. Y," Cam said with a smirk on her face,
"Cam. SHUT UP!" Lily said hitting her in the arm. "Wait. Ollie can bend the laws of science also." This earned a small smile from Cam, despite the circumstances.
"She can in fact. That freak." My. Yates replied with a scowl on his face.
"I wouldn't call her the freak. You're the one trying to kill her." Lily concluded
"As I was saying, You two decided to stick your noses into it and try and find her. So you ended up here. About to watch her die a slow and painful death."
"You wouldn't dare." Cam scowled and hoisted up her sword, ready to strike.
(A/N Look at me following a schedule. I thought this whole every Friday thing would give me a whole week to write at least two chapters. Let's hope for the best and cross your fingers. Also. For the sequel to this, I will be adding two new chapters. I thought it would be a good idea to ask you guys for help. If you would like, you can submit a character that could possibly be chosen. I was thinking about 1 boy and 1 girl but I'll see if I get any submissions. They can harness elements if you would like them to. Just make sure it's not earth, water, and now, fire. Also, I'm very sorry about the dark turn this chapter took. I don't even know what I was thinking. Ok that's all I have to say. THANK YOU. :))
