Song of the Chapter- Mystery of Love by Sufjan Stevens

"I'm just saying, I don't care if it was made in the eighties or nineties, the effects in this movie are shit," Tessie cackled, snatching the bowl of popcorn from me.

Monica reaches over, trying to grab some popcorn, "What do you expect Tes? Some goddamn Micheal Bay?"

A small giggle escaped my lips, but I kept checking my phone to see if Luke had returned any of my messages. Tessie glanced over, and rolls her eyes at me, "Oh come on Toni, this is supposed to be a girls night. You and him called like an hour ago, he's probably at dinner with his pals like he said he would be."

Monica nodded her head in agreement and spoke with a mouthful of popcorn, "Yeah he's probably busy. C'mon, just watch Ghostbusters with us and laugh at how bad the special effects are." I give another small nod and just give a sheepish little smile. I don't know what's gotten into me recently but I've just wanted to spend every moment I can with Luke. Maybe it's because I'm excited for our future together but I just can't put a finger on it. I looked at my lock screen again, the sight of his gorgeous smile making my heart flutter. This is the face of the man who I will spend the rest of my life with, the man I'll start a family with, the man I'll grow old with.

"Ton what's up? You've been quite clingy to Luke lately, is something wrong," Tessie questioned at me, giving a look of worry. A loud and urgent knock is heard coming from my front door, the sound echoing throughout the house.

We all face each other, clearly shaken up before Monica gets up, "I've got it ladies, I'll scare off the big bad man." Tessie and I giggled at her statement, Monica was always the protector of the group no matter what.

Tessie cleared her throat at me, clearly wanting me to answer her previous question. "No nothing's wrong I guess. I just, I've just had a weird feeling recently. I don't know why, but something just isn't settling well with me," I stammered, trying my best to word the feelings circling me.

"Oh, good evening Officer. What can I do for you," we heard Monica speak, almost sacredly. Tessie and I ignore it, figuring it was nothing too important, probably a complaint about the TV being too loud. The movie had just got where the ghostbusters where in the library searching for the ghosts. Even though it was an extremely cheesy movie, I still enjoyed the company of my friends.

"Ahem," Monica cleared her throat causing Tessie and I to turn around, spotting the worried look upon her face. "Toni, the officer is here for you, he says it's um, important," she stuttered.

I stand up, instinctively dusting off my sweatpants, trying to look better than I currently do. I nervously joked, "Oh boy, I don't think I did anything wrong sir," and continued walking towards the door where he was. He was a tall man, with jet black hair leaking out from under his cap, he had a stocky build but his eyes were what I mainly focused on. They were a deep brown, but were filled with an emotion. Something I couldn't quite read, almost like sorrow and empathy.

He takes off his cap, holding it low and close to him, "Are you Antonia Anderson, soon to be Hemmings?"

My legs started to shake worriedly, why was an officer at my doorstep, why was he like this? And why did he know the name Hemmings?

I gulped, dread and fear settling at the bottom of my stomach. That horrible feeling I had felt this past week was starting to surface, something was definitely wrong. "Yes, that's me. Is everything alright," I questioned, barely able to form those words.

He stood there, staring back at me, not moving a single muscle. His brown eyes turned more sorrowful and he cleared his throat.

How much sorrow can I take?
Blackbird on my shoulder
And what difference does it make
When this love is over?
Shall I sleep within your bed
River of unhappiness
Hold your hands upon my head
'Til I breathe my last breath
Oh, oh woe-oh-woah is me
The last time that you touched me
Oh, will wonders ever cease?
Blessed be the mystery of love
