I stared at the god in front of me, not sure what to make of him. "G-go away, "I said, "You're not real..."
He smiled in sympathy, then walked over to me and knelt in front of me. "I understand your confusion, dear child. Getting introduced into a whole new culture of gods can be...confusing, to say the least, but your friends aren't trying to hurt you. On the contrary, they are only opening your eyes to the crucial role you must play to save the world. And you may not believe it, boy," he reached for my face, and as he touched it, all my tears dried up," But the gods of Egypt are indeed not a myth. I wouldn't be here otherwise. So cry not, dear boy, for you have a great destiny ahead of you, and a world to save."
I could've slapped his hand off my face. I could've run away screaming. Heck, I could've even kicked his crotch and thrown a tantrum right there. But I didn't. For some reason, I felt a kind of connection between us. Maybe it was because he was my patron god or the heat he radiated felt so warm and cozy, but I felt at home around him. Like he was a best friend or father or something. Almost like he was family.
"May I sit?" he stood up, and I quietly nodded. He sat beside me on my bed, and I said, "You're a god..."
From the moment I saw him, I knew he was. He had this kind of...vibe around him, like an aura or something. It felt so warm and calm, like the sun in spring or summer.
He nodded, "That I am. I came to you, Jones, to tell you the honest truth," he turned to me, "You are the last Son of Fate, destined to save the world from birth. You have the ability to become a hero, the greatest this world has ever seen. But you are young," he opened his palm, and a small flame flickered, "You have no idea what amazing abilities you have. Like this small flame, you are weak, ignorant of the true strength you possess. But with the right guidance," the flame burned bigger and brighter, "You will harness your abilities, and use them to save not just the gods, but all of mankind as well."
He smiled at me, "I am here to guide you to become the Son of Fate who will free this world from an imminent reign of pure tyranny and bloodshed."
How could he say that sentence with a smile on his face?
"In order to accomplish all this," he said, "You have to be familiar with the current situation. So, first, I'll give you an update."
He pointed at my pocket, "I see you have my Eye."
"Oh, "I looked down, "Yeah. You want it back?-"
He chuckled, "If only I could use it. Alas, child, my power is greatly limited at this time; I have lived too long without my full essence. That is why you were chosen. In any case, the Eye in your possession is the greatest relic in this universe; if returned to its rightful place, it could release us gods. We are only able to reveal ourselves at a limited rate because we now depend on only a bit of our godly power. Do you understand?"
Are you kidding me?
I shook my head no, and he explained, "You see, Jones, long ago, back in the past, we gods were the most powerful beings on this planet. Whole civilizations fell to the power of the Egyptian gods. Even other deities could not defeat us. We held back the Greek gods from completely wiping out our territory, even when they upgraded to Roman deities. After some time they accepted defeat, and we formed an alliance. The Romans ruled the world as long as they treated Egypt kindly. Sometimes we Egyptian gods fused with their gods to become stronger. Those were good times."
Then his smile disappeared, "However, one day, when Isis looked into the future-As the goddess of magic and fate, she and Thoth are the only ones who can behold the future from the primordial force of Nun-"
"What?"I was seriously confused at this point, but Amun-Ra only said, "You will understand as you grow. Anyway, when Isis looked into the future, she saw...nothing."
