Draco's POV

I was sharing a room with Harry. A ton of other people too, but Harry. Merlin, could I never catch a break?

"Oy, Harry, here's your bed." Weasel called. "Oh, poor you, mate. You're by Malfoy!" I took a step back. I'm by Harry?!!

"Okay." Harry said, collapsing onto his bed. "I don't really care as long as he doesn't hex me in my sleep." His voice was muffled by the pillow.

"Draco won't hex you." Blaise said.

"Yeah, sure." Weasel said. Soon Harry's soft snores filled the room. Maybe it was just me, but they sounded fake. Like he was pretending.

"Shh, he's sleeping." Longbottom whispered. "And I am too, in a second." He jumped into his bed.

"Cool," Blaise said, glancing over Neville. I laughed lightly. Blaise has had a crush on Neville forever. Not unlike me and Harry. Only difference is Blaise actually stood a chance, seeing as he hadn't taunted Neville for years.

"Night." Weasel said, slipping into his bed. It wasn't directed at Blaise or me, but at Neville, who nodded once before falling asleep. Blaise and I looked at each other and then collapsed onto our beds, falling asleep in an instant.

Harry's POV

I laid awake fake snoring until the room was filled with the light breathing-in Malfoy's case-and loud snores-in Ron's case. Then I turned over so I was looking at the top of my bed.

I couldn't sleep, not here. The second I did, the dreams were sure to come. The nightmares, the nightmares that weren't nightmares at all, but memories. Memories that I wished I didn't have.

Soon I couldn't stand it anymore-I had to get out. I had to get out of this room before I fell asleep.

I slipped out of bed and crept toward my trunk. I opened it and rummage around as quietly as possible for my invisibility cloak. It was the only Hallow I had kept-the only Hallow I wanted.

I quickly found the cloak and Marauders Map. I grabbed my wand and tip toed out of the room.

I slipped out the door to the dorm, closing the door as lightly as possible, even though there was almost no chance of being heard from there.

I walked around the castle, not entirely sure where I was going. I just found myself in front of the Room of Requirement. Deciding that there was no harm in going in there, I slipped inside.

The room I was in was plain, with just some cushions on the floor and a bathroom in the corner. I sat on one of the cushions and looked straight ahead. The wall in front of me was plain white. At least, I thought it was. But then it shimmered, as though someone had thrown a ball full of silver and gold glitter at it.

Then the wall transformed, so that I was watching a tiger and her cubs. The cubs were running around the mother, leaping over her and each other, while the mother watched them lazily. Then one tiger cub jumped onto the mother's head, and she shot upward so she was standing up. She bowed her head forward, and the cub rolled off of it.

"Potter." came the drawling voice of Draco Malfoy. "What are you doing here?"

I stood up and turned so I was facing Malfoy. "I could ask you the same thing." I said coldly.

"I was just out for a stroll." Malfoy answered, waving his hand as though to dismiss the question. "And you?"

"Same thing." I said. I have to admit, Malfoy looked good. Like, really good. His hair wasn't slicked back like it usually was, and it looked so soft. His blue-grey eyes weren't cold like they usually were, but instead they held emotions. Emotions I couldn't quite place. And his lips-

Why was I looking at his lips?!!

"Really." Malfoy said, stepping closer. "You went for a stroll? I was under the impression you were asleep. So imagine my surprise when I open my eyes and find that you aren't in your bed."

"Why were you looking at my bed?"

"I-" Malfoy didn't seem to have an answer.

"And anyway, why were you going for a stroll? I thought you were sleeping."

"Paying attention to my sleeping habits, are we, Potter?"

This time I didn't have an answer.

"And why'd you come here, of all places?" Malfoy pushed.

"I didn't come here, I just ended up here." I answered, knowing how stupid that sounded. "And what about you, Malfoy, what purpose could you have coming here?"

"I wanted some time to myself, but it seems it was ruined by you, Potter." Malfoy snapped.

I scoffed. "Right, of course." I said, my anger dying down quickly. "Naturally." I had intended to sound sarcastic, but instead it came out somewhat empty. Then I got an idea. A horrible, but wonderful, idea.

"Malfoy?" I asked hesitantly.

"What?" Malfoy asked. He sounded tired. I was tired too.

"I'm tired of fighting." I said, stepping closer to him, so we could shake hands. I put my hand out. "So, can we just try to be friends?"

Malfoy stared at my hand. He seemed to be thinking. "What happened to, 'I can figure out the wrong sort for myself, thanks?'" he asked.

I shrugged. "Guess I changed my mind." I said.

"Uh huh." Malfoy smiled devilishly. "You have to do something for me first."

"What?" I asked, somewhat worried.

"Beg, Potter. Beg." Malfoy said.

"I'm not going to-I don't want to-" I spluttered.

"Then I guess you don't really not want to be friends." Malfoy turned on his heel and started toward the door.

"Wait!" I called. Malfoy turned around and watched me expectantly. "Please be my friend." I said. "Please."

"I have a feeling that's all I'm going to get." Malfoy said.

"Your feeling is correct."

"Alright. I suppose, we can try to be friends."
