Chapter 23

3rd Person POV

"I cheated on you." Joshua said suddenly, looking ashamed. Harry looked up at him in confusion, meeting his eyes for the first time that night. He said nothing.

"Please Harry. Hear me out." Joshua said. "I-I was jealous. You were only talking about Malfoy and I thought-Well, it was stupid, but I thought you were cheating on me with him, and-and instead of confronting you, I-I kissed Ernie."

"The Hufflepuff?" Harry asked, momentarily forgetting that he too had cheated on Joshua.

Joshua nodded. "Yeah, he was upset when he found out I was still dating you, and told me to, and I quote, 'keep your damned lips to yourself, I don't want to hurt Harry, he's my friend.'" Joshua said, laughing a little.

"Oh." Harry then remembered Draco. He couldn't go on like this.

"I-I know you wouldn't cheat on me with Malfoy, you said you were just friends and I should have believed you." Joshua said, staring at his shoes.

"Joshua, I..." Harry trailed off, looking for the right words to say. Nothing came to mind, so Harry settles on the best option.

The truth.

"Joshua, I liked you. I-I really Did. But somewhere along the way, I guess my feelings shifted and-and pointed to someone else. I-Joshua, I cheated on you too. With-with Draco." Harry said his name quietly, hoping that maybe that would make it hurt less. He and Joshua had only been dating a few weeks, but they had gotten close.

"Oh," Joshua said, his voice sounding oddly choked. "I see."

And he left the room without another word, leaving Harry to wonder what in the name of Merlin's soggy left sock he should do next.

Oof. Both boys are BAD. Teehee, super short chapter, but it is very important to the story.
