AN: I know the beginning sucks. I'm sorry I really am...but I have a plan in my head and I'm just trying to fill in the blanks so that this all comes together and makes sense.

The rest of the ride was silent. When we got home I took the food and ran. I was so hungry I haven't eaten in 4 days. As I dug the food out of the bag Keaton walked in....holding my bag. Shit hopefully he didn't look inside. I just raised an eyebrow and went back to sorting out the food. I may have secretly put a few fries in my mouth as I did. Keaton just stood there. And then he spoke up.
"Ar I know your hungry but based on what's in the bag, you may wanna go take care of that."
My face turned bright red "You looked"
I whisperedHe snickered and shook his head "I wish I hadn't" He laughed
"That ones on you" I stood up and went to the bathroom. When I came back he was sitting on the couch with his Trig. homework eating his food.
I grabbed mine and sat next to him. "Ready to start??"
"Yeah but I'm lost so just feel free to make sense of it"
I turned his book. I remembered this! It was easy once you got it. But you had to understand it first. "So this is a basic elevation problem" I went over the steps on my head while using my finger to draw lines in the book.
I looked up and Keaton rolled his eyes. "Only you would say this is 'basic'"
"Well for the base set up it is"
"Okay just explain please"
"So first you have to see what you need to find."
He just nodded
"So in this case you have to find TanX."
"Soooooo" He said thinking. Eventually he gave up and shrugged.
"You set up the proportion. Leg over Base"
"So 2059 over 5280?"
"Yep and then you..."
"Move Tan back over to the equation?"
"Yea then when you move it you have to add a -1 and put the fraction in parentheses"
"So then your left with X and the Tan cancelled with the -1 so you just have to divide out?"
I nodded.
"And that leaves you with a decimal that rounds to....about 21"
"And that makes the answer...."
"The angle of elevation is 21 degrees"
"Nice---" Before I could finish the boys walked in. They weren't themselves....they were out of it. I've only seen Drew like this a few times. When he was...he was. No he couldn't be. Could he? "Are-Are th-they?" I asked Keaton. My voice shaking as the words escaped. He just nodded.
Drew realized I was there and started to talk. "Ari I swear-" I cut him off
"Drew save it. We can talk about this later when your back."
"Don't be mad--"
"I'm not mad Drew! I just I'm not sure how I feel right now. But it's not anger" I walked upstairs and laid down on my bed.
Was it really that bad? Of course it was bad! They were doing the things that Drew was trying to get away from. I mean other than that it was still bad but I guess it depends on how much and how often they do it. If they have enough control then they should be fine. I can't really do anything about it though. And they're old enough to make their own decisions.
The door opened and woke me up. Woke me up?? Whoa it's morning? "Hey Ar can we talk now?"
"Sure" I sat up in my bed and threw my hair up in a bun.
"So about yesterday" He scratched the back of his head "I'm really sorry" "I didn't want you to find out like that."
"Drew its okay"
"Ari I- Wait what?"
"It's okay Drew. I know that sometimes you need a get away. And I trust that you and Wesley are old enough to be responsible for your actions. I trust you"
"Whew okay thank you Ari" He tackled me onto the bed
"Yeah yeah your welcome but now I need to ask you something" I had really thought about this
"What's up" Okay now I'm second guessing this
"Um you know what nevermind"
"Talk to me" Nope he wasn't gonna let it slide
"I will...after I talk to Keaton" Whoops that slipped
"Wait you talk to Keaton?? Did I miss something?"
"Yeah I started my period and he was the only one here so he took me to the store and then we got dinner and I helped him with homework. We're tight" I did the sup nod
"Okayy do you want me to get him?"
"Sure" "Thanks bro" Well that all came out of nowhere.
