Chapter 4

Shard's POV

I was trudging around the battle zone, trying to find some more parts to fix my bike. I didn't want to go too far from the Mobius Command Center, in case I ran into anything. I had finally found a few pipes, that were newer than most things in this zone, and took them back to my 'home'. I wasn't really sure how these would help, but in this case, anything is worth it. I dragged the heavy pipes up into the garage, when I saw a dust cloud heading my way. I stared as a wolf-like creature appeared. We just stared at each other for a few moments, not saying a word. Finally, the creature spoke, breaking the silence. "Hi, my name is Kala, I'm a Vandaless. Who are you?" Kala asked. The Vandaless was really nice, and I smiled at her. "My name is Shard Cortez, I'm a human." I said. That was one of the awkwardest intros I have ever given for myself, but it was the best.

Kala and I soon became friends, and talked to each other about feelings, and other strange things. It was as if we were meant to become best friends.

I woke up from the dream I had, and looked over at my clock. 4:30. I groaned, remembering that I had agreed to help Zoom finish the Chopper this morning. I sighed, getting out of bed, and changing into my ripped blue jeans, and a black T-shirt, tying my leather jacket around my waist. I walked down into the kitchen, and saw a sleepy Zoom eating cereal. We nodded at each other, and I grabbed a bowl, sitting across from him. We ate quietly, not really having anything to talk about. I saw Zoom staring at me a couple times, before he turned back to his cereal. Once we both finished, I followed him down to the hub, and we each got back to work on the Chopper. We worked for a few hours, before I heard my older brothers groan, and start muttering things at each other. Everyone woke up at some time, and were either in the kitchen, or having a small conversation outside of it. Vert was the last one awake, and had woken up an hour after we had finished. Currently Zoom and I were sitting in the Rec room, leaning back on the sofa, eyes half closed. Vert walked in after a few minutes, and saw the two of us half paying attention to Spinner, and his explanation of the game he was playing. He was about to say something, when he saw the grease and sweat on our faces, and shut his mouth. I was glad that we were done, but was going to miss riding with Zoom.

All of the team was in the room now, listening as Spinner explained the game. I was sitting by Zoom, and I saw him nod off a few times, before waking up again when Spinner let out a whoop. I yawned, before leaning my head back against the back of the sofa, falling asleep even with Spinner's loud commentary. The last thing I heard was Vert and Sherman, "What time did they get up?" Vert asked. "According to Sage, the two woke up at 4:30 this morning, and worked on the Chopper for 5 or 6 hours." Sherman replied, and with that, I fell asleep.

Zoom's POV

Shard and I were back to fixing the Chopper again. But this time, at 4:30 in the morning. Why had I picked that time? Oh, right. We were almost done, and were hoping to finish it earlier in the morning, in case of a storm shock later in the day. We had finished after 5 or 6 hours of working, and an hour before Vert woke up. Right now we were sitting next to each other in the Rec room. I wasn't even paying attention to the game that Spinner was trying to explain to us. I think I nodded off a few times, but woke up again when Spinner yelled. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Shard close her eyes, falling asleep. "What time did they get up at?" I heard Vert ask Sherman. "According to Sage, the two woke up at 4:30 this morning, and worked on the Chopper for 5 or 6 hours." Sherman whispered back. Spinner let out another yell, but luckily Shard didn't wake up. I leaned back so I was in a similar position as her, and also fell asleep. But before doing so, gave a look to Agura and Vert. They were up to something. "If I wake up in a weird position, you are not going to like what I do to you." I said, before closing my eyes.
