Chapter 6

Shard's POV

I heard a knock at my door, and sighed. "It's unlocked." I called out. I heard it slide open, then shut again, and looked up. It was just Zoom. I smiled, and swung my feet off the bed, pointing next to me. He did so, and we sat there in an awkward silence. "Thanks for helping me fall asleep last night." Zoom said, breaking the silence. I shrugged, "Anytime. Although I know that's not why you came in here." I replied. After a minute, Zoom spoke. "I'velikedyouforawhilenow,andIwaswonderingifyouwanedtogooutonadatewithmetonight?" he said superfast, and super unhearable. I raised an eyebrow, "Come again?" I asked, not hearing what he had said. Zoom took another breath, his face turning a dark red. "I've liked you for a while now, and I was wondering if you wanted to go out on a date with me tonight?" he asked again, saying it slow enough that I could understand.

I widened my eyes in disbelief, realization hitting me as I heard what Zoom had said. 'Oh. My. Gosh. He just asked me out.' I thought. I cleared my throat, hiding the emotions of excitement I was feeling. "Of course I will. What time?" I asked him. Zoom looked over at me, and I blushed just a bit. There was silence for a moment, before Zoom responded. "8." he said, his voice filled with excitement. I nodded, knowing I was free, and smiled over at him, nudging his shoulder with mine. "I'll look forward to it." I told him. Zoom nodded, and stood up, leaving my room.

I stared up at the ceiling. "I'm going out on a date... with Zoom!" I whispered under my breath. The day couldn't pass by any slower. I showered, changing into a ripped, black pair of jeans, putting on a dark blue t-shirt, and grabbing one of my leather jackets that had silver streaking up the sleeves. I heard a knock at my door, and opened it before I put on the jacket. Spinner walked in without me saying anything, and I shut the door. "Have fun. He said, rummaging around in my drawers. "Uh. Spinner? What are you doing?" I asked, watching him. "I'm trying to find my video game controller. Agura and Vert stole it from me, and hid it." he whined. I slapped my forehead. "Bro. I saw them put it in the freezer." I replied. Spinner immediately jumped up, and ran into my door, before opening it, and running out. I sighed, shutting it again, and quickly cleaned up the mess that Spinner had made.

I walked into my bathroom, and quickly curled my hair. I didn't usually wear make-up, but I did put on some mascara and a little bit of blush. I still didn't have my jacket on, and walked out of my bathroom, grabbing it as there was another knock on my door. I put on the jacket, and opened it, revealing that it was Zoom this time. He was wearing blue jeans with tennis shoes, and had his usual long sleeve red shirt on underneath his yellow shirt. I smiled at him, as he stared at me. "You look awesome." he said, as I walked out, shutting the door. I blushed slightly, and locked it to keep everyone else out. "You don't look to bad yourself." I said, turning to him. He smiled his goofy smile at me, and grabbed my hand. "Come on, let's get out of here before the others show up." he said, dragging me down the hall. I laughed, and followed him up to the Chopper.

We both put on our helmets, and I climbed on behind Zoom, holding on as he drove out of the hub, leaving our teammates behind us. I laughed as Zoom almost forgot to turn on the headlights, and almost ran into a cactus. He caught his mistake, and quickly turned them on and swerved. "Oops. Sorry!" he called back to me. I smiled, and held on tighter as we drove through the desert at high speeds. Zoom slowed down once we got to the road, and he pulled into Zeek's. "Stay here." he told me, before running in. He came back out with a box of pizza, and put it between him and the handlebars. "And off we go again!" Zoom said, turning back out into the desert. It was completely dark, and I held on tight as Zoom drove off to some spot out in the desert.

We finally stopped at a canyon, and Zoom turned off the Chopper, leaving us in complete darkness. I will never admit it to anyone, but I hated not being able to see. Zoom grabbed my hand, and we slipped off of the motorcycle, I stood by, my eyes slowly adjusting as I watched him lay out a blanket. He sat down on it, but I didn't move. Zoom suddenly grabbed my hand, pulling me down next to him. "Hey!" I said as I landed on the ground. He smiled at me, and turned on a lantern. He opened the pizza box, and we both leaned in, smelling it. "That smell will never get old. Unlike Spinner's socks." I said, wrinkling my nose at the thought of my oldest brother's smelly socks. Zoom and I let out a laugh as we each grabbed a piece of pizza.
