Zoom's POV

I haven't seen Shard all day, and decided to go see if she was up on the roof. I slowly climbed the ladder, and rounded the corner. Shard was trying to cover up something on her neck, but I saw the dark blue line running down it. "What is that?!" I demanded, anger boiling up inside. She didn't reply, just looked away. "What is that?!" I said again. "It's just a scar." Shard muttered, looking in the opposite direction of where I was standing. I slowly walked up to her, and sat down. I lifted my hand up, and brushed her hair away from what it was hiding. I held my breath as I saw the scar. I slowly traced it down her neck, tracing it through her shirt. It stopped at her wrist. My eyes widened at how long this scar was. "Who did this to you?" I whispered, tracing it again.

Shard recoiled from my touch, and slowly looked up at me. "It's nothing." she said. So it's a scar, and then nothing. I knew it was a lie. But I just didn't say anything, lightly tracing the scar again. I stopped at a part of her shoulder, not continuing on. I could see Shard's jaw clench, and her eyes show pain. "Shard, tell me the truth." I said, wanting to help her. She once again looked away, "It's nothing. I'm fine." She was lying, I knew it. I touched the spot again, knowing that if she was fine, it wouldn't hurt. I watched as she shut her eyes, and hid her face from my view. My hand didn't move from the spot, until I heard her crying. I pulled away my hand, and stood up. After a minute, I walked away, giving Shard some time alone.

I climbed back down the ladder, and went to go find Agura. I found her talking to Vert, and she smiled at me. "Hey, Zoom. Everything alright?" she asked. I took a breath. "Um... I think it would be good if you went to go talk to Shard. She's crying up on the roof." I told her. She quickly finished her conversation, and climbed up the ladder. "Do you know why?" Vert asked me. I shook my head, and walked over to some tires that were stacked. I started punching and kicking them, taking out all the anger that had been building up in me. I swung my foot, and that broke the tires still form. I took a deep breath, and stacked them up again, continuing the punching and kicking. I stopped once I saw Shard standing before me. She had her hair braided back, and her jacket around her waist. My eyes drifted down her arm, and back up to her neck, staring at the scar. How could anyone do this to her? I took a step towards her, and grabbed her right hand, holding it up. I traced the scar again, but she didn't move away from me this time. "If only I was there. I could have helped you before this doom." I whispered, still feeling the dark blue and black line. I watched as Shard let out a smile, "Doom is something I'll never believe in." she said. Before I could stop myself, I wrapped my arms around her, letting her hand go. Shard hugged back after a moment of surprise, and I couldn't stop myself. I started crying into her shoulder, sadness and grief being let out. She let me do it, and held me tighter.

"Take a breath, Zoom." she said after a moment. I obeyed, and slowly pulled away. Shard wiped my tears away, and I just stared into her beautiful eyes. I remembered my past back at the Order, the day I ran away, those eyes that were soft and kind, I left them behind. I looked down at the floor, feeling the tears start to come again. Shard tilted my chin up, and wiped my tears away again. Before I could say anything, I felt her lips on mine. She placed her arms around my neck as mine moved instinctively down to her waist, holding her close. After a minute, we pulled away for air, but kept our hands in place. "Feel better?" she asked me so only I could hear it. I smiled "Yeah." I replied. Shard also smiled and she removed her hands from where they were. I did the same just as the stormshock alarm went off. We all ran down to the garage, and got into or onto our vehicles.

We drove off to the stormshock, Kala staying behind because Sage wanted to talk to her about something. When we arrived on the other side, we appeared in a rocky terrain. "Let's get the battle key." Vert said, and we all split up. I went with Agura and Shard as we searched around. There was a yell from our comm link, and we all looked at each other. "SPINNER, is everything alright? SPINNER!" Shard yelled. We all turned back, and drove off to find the Reverb, Buster, and Saber all surrounded by Sark. "Don't get dragged into this, they're after Z...." Vert started, but got cut off as Zurk ran into him. "We have to help." Agura said. Shard didn't move, a look of pure terror on her face. "It's coming true." I heard her mutter. Agura must have looked at her too, but drove off to help the others. Shard slowly slid off the Hijacker, turning away. I got off the Chopper, and stared at her as she ran off. "Shard, wait!" I called out, running after her. She only ran faster, and I had to be careful not to trip on any rocks. I saw her disappear down a long canyon, and followed after her. It stopped at a dead end, and I looked around. Shard wasn't here.
