I'm handed the two iced coffees, better late than never. I'm about to turn away when the barista slids a small black coffee in my direction. "that's for your fella over there" and nods his head in Matty's direction. I glance at him ,about to protest, but stop when I see him with his head in his hand. Once again I see his cockiness prevail, and feel momentarily sorry for him. For what exactly? I couldn't quite figure out.
I walk back to the table and place the coffee in front of him. He removes his hands from his tired eyes and looks up at me. "Oh thanks" he stutters seeming to forget the original reason he entered the shop. "You were probably just joking earlier. And probably have lots of better things you could be doing but.." He watches every word that comes out of my mouth. "I dunno, you could walk with me or something" I start to edge away preempting rejection. "Erm" he begins. THIS is why I don't make the first move I tell myself, looking anywhere but Matty. "This is awkward because I literally have NOTHING going on at the moment which makes me look like a right loser" he admits. Matty stands up quickly grabbing a black leather backpack and his coffee. I grab my sisters purse and plop it under my arm. "Here" he pulls it gently from under my arm and throws it in his rucksack along with the neglected cookies. He pulls his ray bans of his shirt and slides them on the front on my dress. His fingers are soft as they brush against my skin. "Ta da!" he waves his arms around like a fairy. "Now you know I'm not going to rob you!" "How do I know that?" I ask confused. "Because you have 1 of my most prize possessions on your chest babe!" he laughs like it's the most genius thing ever. We walk out of the coffee shop. I look behind me as we leave- knowing I won't be back any time soon. Me and Flo never go anywhere more than once. Speaking of Flo, she must be pulling her hair out by now. 5 minutes may have turned into 40 before I knew it.
