After we kissed I stood there stunned- listening to the screams of everyone around us as they celebrated, i almost forgot how to breath, dropping my hands from around his neck i placed them on his chest as he pulled me close, biting my lip I gave him a soft smile, "i didn't expect you to kiss that good" I blurted out, hearing him laugh it made me smile.
"Happy New Year, Carter" Calum smiled at me, giving one back I replied with "Happy New Year, Calum."
After finding Ashton and Wren, Cal invited us back to their place for the night seeing as ash and cal shared a penthouse in the heart of sydney it would've been easier then a forty minute car ride home.
Bidding our goodbyes to the two couples, i managed to get Crystal and Sierras phone numbers, we all decided that following each others instagram wouldn't be the best idea, for now anyway.
On the way back I had never seen Wren so.. her, I laughed as she tripped over her own feet before brining ashton down with her. "Jesus Wren, how much did you drink?" I laughed, helping her up as Cal helped Ash. "Surprisingly not that much, I purely just fell" She straightened out her dress, before going back to holding hands with Ash.
"Thank you for letting us crash tonight, and again thank you for inviting us to the party, I'm pretty sure we both enjoyed ourselves." I followed him inside, my eyes instantly landing on the grand piano in their foyer. "Hey, thank you for coming. Im glad you did" He replied, picking up his dog.
I watched as Ash and Wren make their way upstairs disappearing i could only hope they weren't going to do what i thought they would. "This is Duke, my only companion" I gently petted the dog before watching him trot away, "would you like anything to drink or eat?" He asked, i shook my head in response, walking towards the piano as my fingers itching to play, I felt as if all the alcohol that i drank tonight didn't even have an effect on me.
"Its not going to break if you touch it y'know" Calum laughed from behind me, I looked at him from over my shoulder, I hummed and walked away from it, "i would love to play it- just not now, my mind is too tired to function" I admitted, looking at his facial features in the dim light, his hand gently came up and move a piece of my hair off, tucking it behind my ear. I appreciated the small gesture, breaking the silence "am i okay to shower?" I mumbled, playing with the zipper of his jacket, "yeah, of course- c'mon ill show you were everything is."
Calums pov
I knew I shouldn't get attached, i knew the first time we got coffee together was bad- in my mind it shouldn't of happen but i couldn't help what i felt, and it was better for me because she had no clue about who i was when we met. She didn't go crazy over me like everyone else, she wasn't everyone else, she was carter the girl who fell asleep on my shoulder on an airplane.
When I kissed her tonight, I took the risk, i took the risk of anyone taking pictures, someone seeing us, all these possibilities but in the moment, it felt right and i didn't doubt that for a second.
She was beautiful, a month, a month as her friend and i was already falling- she couldn't know that, not yet at least, i wanted to be sure, i wanted to warn her of everything, but i just wanted to keep her safe.
While she showered i checked on Ash i was lucky to only find him and Wren cuddled up with each other asleep on his bed, I shut his door slowly, making sure Duke had enough food in his bowl I quickly posted to instagram like all the boys had done.

Looking away from my phone as i heard my bathroom door opened i watched as Carter walk out in my tee-shirt, yes blame me for being that cliche guy but what was i suppose to do? let her sleep in her dress, obviously not.
"ill take the couch tonight, you're okay to take my bed" I insisted, watching as she shook her head, "no cal- ill take the couch, sleep in your own bed" she laughed, I smiled as she laughed before patting the spot next to me, "we'll share- just i wanna talk first before we both fall asleep." We both agreed on this- thankful it wasn't made into a big thing about who slept where.
"Wren?" Carter whispered as she rested her head on my shoulder, "She's okay, asleep with ash" I replied, gently grabbing her hand. "when're you going back to uni?" I asked, honestly i didn't want her to go but she had her own dreams to chase. "In two days, i take my exams and I have to wait three days to see if i passed- if i do, i'm moving back here to start my internship and if i fail" she breathed out, fiddling with the sheets with her free hand.
"if i fail, i'll probably drop out not even bothering to re-take them, i mean i worked so hard for nothing so i'd move back here and try to find something i'm good at" Carter shrugged, giving her hand a slight squeeze. "you'll pass them, i know you will." I smiled, kissing her head like it was the most natural thing to do.
Glancing to the clock on my side table I laughed at how it was almost five in the morning, i didn't think we were speaking for that long. "goodnight Cal" she whispered, i pulled her to my chest before whispering my own goodnight we both fell asleep.
