Long Way Home

It was another extremely early morning, Wren was still asleep so i packed my bags as quietly as i could so i didn't have to do it later. I pulled my phone off charge seeing the few messages from cal;

Calum; I enjoyed hanging out with you today
sent; 6:19pm

Calum; I was thinking we can grab coffee at dennys tomorrow                                            
sent; 8:24pm

Calum; you ok? havent run for the hills yet?    
sent; 10:55pm

Calum; goodnight carter x    
sent; 11:00pm

I quickly messaged a reply before going back to my packing

Carter; sorry! i tuned my phone off, id love to meet you at dennys, is lunch okay? and i enjoyed hanging out with you cal, see you soon! :)

I smiled as i got a message back almsot instantly

Calum; ill pick you up at 11, after dennys i wanna take you somewhere

Locking my phone I looked to now an awake Wren, "what are you smiling about?" I shrugged and gave her a flat look, "Calum?" i nodded and changed into my clothes for the day, i packed my pyjamas and zipped my bag up.

As 11am rolled around, I was waiting patiently but i was super nervous, i knew there was no reason and i was overthinking the situation but i couldn't help it. "

Getting into Calum's car he handed me a cup, "okay i'm way too impatient, were going to my favourite spot, i got you hot coco by the way." I thanked him and took a sip.

"so you aren't going to kill me right?" I mumbled before taking a sip, Calum grabbed my hand with his free one, squeezing it slightly. "No carter, i'm not going to kill you, if i wanted to, i would've done it the other night" I listed to him laugh which made me laugh, i kept my eyes on  him I smiled before placing my cup into the cupholder.

"Take  a picture, carter- it'll last longer" I scoffed and grabbed my phone "cocky much?" i asked before shifting in my seat to take the photo of us, "don't mind if i do." I set it as my background before looking out the window again.

"so were going up a mountain  to your favourite spot?" Calum didn't say anything besides sing quietly to the song.

After driving for ten more minutes i felt the car stop, sipping from my hot coco i left it in the car before opening my door to follow him, noticing how there was one other car I smiled as it just us up here,

I took a seat next to him just blankly staring the scenery in front of me. If Calum didn't say anything i'm sure i would've never moved.

"I come here to think, its my spot- none of the boys know about it, I actually wrote a few of our songs up here" He spoke, i just listened unsure of what to say. "its just peaceful y'know? its away from the fans, the chaos, society, just everything" He mumbled, i grabbed his hand and looked at him, "whats it like? Y'know the fans and the touring and making music?" I asked, crossing my legs on the chair as i faced my body towards him.

"If i'm being honest, its exhausting. I love the fans, so much, i wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them but its almost like i can't do anything that makes me happy because they'll judge- like for Crystal and Sierra they are so amazing but fans hate on them just because they with Mickey and Luke, and thats why i'm so afraid of you Carter" I frowned and looked at him.

"you make me feel like no one has before and that scares me, it scares me that you have the power to do that" I sat there stunned, i had no clue what to say, there was no way that this was happening.

"Cal" I whispered, moving the hair off my face as I tried putting my words together. "But you leave tonight, I was never one to get attached in the span of a few weeks, Carr i only know a few things about you, you don't talk about your family, its almost like you're a secret" He told me, grabbing his packet of cigarette from his pocket.

"I love astrology, i could name any and every star you point at, I was bullied throughout high school so i turned to music to help me, year ten was an awful year for me and from the middle of year ten and onwards Wren moved to my school, we had heaps of fights over dumb things but she's still remained my friend and i'm so thankful of her." I smiled

My family and I? Im nearly twenty three and i have the worse arguments with my siblings over nothing, i moved to Melbourne to get away from everything" I told him with a shrug  "and thats really only just a tiny bit."

He nodded and smiled, "thats all i need for now." I smiled back at him before getting up to walk to the rail that overlooks sydney. I smiled to myself, feeling his arms wrap around my waist. "just about to out myself right now, but i've never really truely felt this way about a guy before I mean, you made me fall for you hard. Its like; you were like coming up for fresh air. It's like I was drowning and you saved me. It's all I know." I shrugged, turning to face him.

Calum gently placed a kiss on my forehead, I closed my eyes and sighed softly. "i can say the same thing- i just, i don't want you to leave, i know you'll be back in a week but- a-lot can happen in a week."

Calum dropped my home around one, I had lunch with my family, i hung out with crystal and sierra for an hour before i left for the airport, on the way i filled Wren in about what happened with cal, she had told me she went to see ash again and they had gone to see a movie for their first date which i was happy about but soon enough it was time to go.

Hugging my family and best friend goodbye, i got on my plane with one last message from Cal.

Calum: dont fall asleep on any random stranger, thats our thing x

Carter: THAT, was one time mister!

Calum: yeah yeah whatever, have a safe flight, msg me when you land! :) x
