Deux - Two
It didn't take long for the news of Eden's sexuality to spread like wildfire. He didn't care, since he was the one who said it. There was no point in hiding in the closet, especially after seeing someone like Fay. If they accepted a boy who enjoyed cross-dressing, then they would accept him.
Fay had a different point of view. At first, he found it to be relieving. It meant that there was finally going to be another out kid. The school was officially going to evolve. It took one full week for Fay to inevitably change his mind.
No one seemed to go more than five seconds without comparing the two. Eden was quickly brought to attention by everyone. Since Fay was so popular, there wasn't a single person who hadn't talked to him before. So everyone knew exactly how he acted and dressed. No one could wrap their head around how different he was from Eden.
To Fay's disapproval, he shared four classes with Eden. People took every opportunity in which they were nearby to point out their differences - as though it were that shocking for two completely different people to have opposing views and interests. Fay loved school. He was good at his studies and thoroughly enjoyed participating in class. As far as Fay could tell, Eden was the opposite.
Every time a teacher would call on the boy, he would brush off their questions with sarcastic comments and blatantly saying that he hadn't been paying attention. Fay hated disrespectful students. They drove him insane.
On one particular occasion, when the teacher called on him, Eden had replied with, "It's been one week and I'm new. Are you all dumb, or something? Pick on someone else."
That was when Fay had spun around in his seat to face the boy sat at the back of the room. "This may sound crazy, but there's this thing called respect. She's your teacher, you don't say things like that."
Eden was leaning against his palm, eyebrow raised as though he found Fay's words amusing. Which he did. His black beanie was pulled down, strands of unruly blonde hair poking out. Fay was certain that several teachers have told him to take it off throughout the day, and yet there it still sat. "Sure thing, Frenchy."
With clenched teeth and narrowed eyes, Fay turned back towards the front of the class. His arms were folded over his chest as he sunk down into the chair with a huff. Eisley lightly patted his shoulder. "Let it go, Fay."
After that, it was all downhill. Every time he saw Eden he wanted nothing more than to roll his eyes. There was just something about him that was annoying. He didn't like that he was always being compared to Eden, and he hated how rude he acted. He just wanted to be his own person. It was hard to understand that feeling until Fay had been put into that situation.
However, Fay controlled himself. He refused to give in and snap at Eden again. Instead, he ignored the boy with a passion. By the two week mark, things started to fall into a normal rhythm. School, drama club, sleep. The words repeated in his head like a ticking clock, the schedule burning into his brain like a branding.
There were also the nights when he would go out with his friends. Eisley always had something to do, even if no one wanted to do it with her. Cal was in love with the concept of high school experiences, so he was always willing to do anything that his friends wished.
Unfortunately, Cal wasn't free this time around. Eisley wanted to go to the mall, and she spent a solid four seconds attempting to convince Fay. He loved shopping with every fiber of his being, so he was totally down. She drove them to the mall, pulling into a free parking spot after screaming at a minivan for stealing her first option.
